Dual Pass Endplate

Ok i was looking at the zzp and gm dual pass and I noticed that the zzp one talks about Laminova Cores being turned a different way for better results, does anyone know if GM also does this with there endplate if they install it?

Going with GM dual end plate is so expensive that few have bought but putting the laminova cores in a different directions is necessary in order work with dual plate.

Dual pass is not expensive unless u get the GMPP endplate. Maybe you are thinking of the single pass.

OP yes you are supposed to flip 2 of the cores. Look for the diagram. 2in/2out. Pletty easy although you may need to gently use a pair of pliers over a towel to twist the cores off if they are stuck. Also make sure you switch the gasket too.

Pretty easy to switch the actual cores once you actually get the intake off.

You dont have to swap in a new rubber gasket as long as you dont break the one on the car and as long as its not beat to hell and back. GMPP Dual-Pass is expensive, OTTP and ZZP have the dual-pass at a cheaper price or you could find one on here. You swap the 2 lower cores, so instead of going in the bottom, out the next, in the next and out the top, you go in the 2 middle and out the bottom and top; might sound confusing, this may be easier

Stock:

(top of endplate)
1 --->OUT
2 <---IN
3 --->OUT
4 <---IN
(bottom of endplate)

(top of endplate)
Dual-Pass
1 ---> OUT
2 / IN
<--- (merge into one)
3 \ IN
4 --->OUT
(bottom of endplate)

My car came with the dual-pass installed already but I'm not so sure the previous owner swapped the cores, so I get to have the joy of pulling off the blower, intake manifold, pulling of the endplate and checking to make sure, cant wait lol

lol ive had the blower off before, you just have to pull the intake off the throttle body and out of the way, not hard lol, belt doesnt have to come off, just off of the blower, gaskets come with taking off the blower and intake manifold, and is taking off the alternator necessary? lol i think ive seen people do it with and without taking off the alternator, if i can do it without taking off the alternator, just one less pain in the ass step lol

Dont see much talk about the approx. $100+ worth gaskets that should be replaced. I assume its a given to replace the intake, supercharger and endplate gaskets. Core seals maybe. Bypass seal between supercharger and intake??

Endplates come with the new gasket if you purchase the GMR version.

Core seals and blower gasket can be reused.

The only gasket I replaced was the intake mani.

I bought all new gaskets and laminova core seals, just because I figure that 9 years of use on my IRL won't allow the gaskets to be reused safely. Plus I really don't want to redo the job lol.

ZZP has the laminova core seals in stock again, BTW.

i think what he was asking is how they need to be actually positioned, and zzp does show. like how they are clocked.

Zzp ones are hit or miss....if you intend on road racing or autocross I'll save you a headche and buy the gmr one. Every zzp one I have put on the track leaks so I quit using them.

Single pass works the best but they are hard to come by and not easy to make.

The alternator does not need to be touched but it will make your life easy if you remove it

dont use rtv if you end up ruining the gasket the rtv is a bitch to clean out of the groove use assembly lube or equivilant to hold the gasket in place

What exactly is the single pass? I get it flows only once through each but how would that work?

Rtv works fine when reusing the gasket and ensures a seal. You shouldn't have to reuse the gasket. I personally recommend to buy new as I'm sure you do too

Oh yes a light coating of coolant on the lam Innova o-rings is essential for not leaking
