so about this 75 vs 80 mm thing, if Area thinks its safe to run a 80mm to 7500 on a stock valvetrain and surely make more than 21psi, why wouldnt it be safe to use a 75mm and only rev to 7000 and make 20.5 psi???????????????????????

Also whats the point of revving to 7500 on valves that arent rated beyond 7000 and surely making more than 20.6psi? Id rather keep my revs lower and get the same or lower boost with the 75MM. Its a pretty safe call that on a motor that is limited to 7000 rpm the 75 is always going to work out better than an 80MM.
There are a couple reasons for revving to 7500rpms. One being that the power doesn't really drop off significantly enough to hurt you, 2 being that our gears are rediculously long, and by reving out to 7500, it puts you in a better spot in the power band when you shift.

It has a little bit to do with that thing under your blower.

my g/fs neck?

jk..

i think hes trying to figure out how over reving the engine at a higher psi will be less devestating than a lower rpm at a roughly lower psi... You would make the boost a little faster... how about the 75 on a 7250 limit?

maybe im the only nutcase here. i meth comes on at 4psi, and is spraying all it's got at 4 psi. why? because i run a stupid amount of timing 4800 rpms and below. what for? torque.

i think it's obvious you don't have a clue what you're doing. water injection and a tvs, only trapping 103?

yes im being a dick.

Well I wouldnt have posted unless I was confused so thank you captain obvious I don't know what im doing thats the point. Some ppl also need to be a bit more conservative if its the only car they have and they dont want to break it.

LSJ wannabe - Whats the difference as far as the intake manifold with making 20.6psi at 7000 rpm or making 21-22 at 7500, I would think lower psi would be less of a problem

With that 2.9 you should be making around 22 psi at 7k the car does not really like it. Heat becomes a big issue

2.9 isn't the heat issue. the 2.75 and lower is a heat monster

I've never seen 22psi at 7k 20.6 max with the 75mm on Keep in mind thats on 1.75 primarys on a long tube header and all 3inch exhaust still with a cat

Most I've got with the 80mm last night was 19.6, so I fail to see how 1psi is going to make things so much worse

anything you need to know should be in the logs from last night

lean the car out. drop the kick on pressure for the water injection to 4-5psi. full pressure by the same.

add timing. if you want. i can throw a quick map together for you so you can compare it to your current map and see the changes.

Also, area isnt the first one ive heard say progressive meth is basically pointless..

when i was looking into a meth system, one of the top meth vendors actually recommended the standard kit OVER the progressive, esp with our systems becuase of how much heat it puts out, it would see better gains from full blast in low-mid psi range.

maf needs some work. no biggie there. lean the car out, add timing. change the progressive to all on at X psi. also need to watch the heat when running at the track. check your system for air. there is still a lot work that has to be done to the map itself, nothing major.

mine were quite manageable on the 2.75" in 95* weather they were 140 through the traps at the top of third. On the 5 gph and a 50/50 mix

Well if 75mm is the 2.9 and its not a heat issue I'm still not seeing what is so bad about using it over the 3.1. I really liked the feel of the car with it on alot more than I do the 80mm

i wonder if part of that is from the blower itself resting directly on the IAT2 sensor maybe getting a false reading?

the sensor is insulated from it. if your sensor has a mind of it's own like mine does. then you could be running into issues.

haha maybe thats it, i also noticed from my logs that in the sub 3000rpm range theres alot of knock due to being lean because its not hitting PE fast enough

so tonight is track night again im still up in the air on whether i want to switch back to the 75MM i really dont see how 1.5psi is so much of a problem and that would make such a difference on EGTs
