dynoing
dynoing
so, i got my car dyno'd on a dyno dynamics eddy current dyno (mods in sig). i dont have the sheet, but i put down appx 160whp uncorrected (at 5000+ feet). im going to go to an intertia dyno and redo it and see where im at. my questions were what gear do you recommend dynoing in and how do you get the rpm reading (where do you go)?
its my friend and he just got this dyno, so he was still learning it. it was free, so i cant complain. neither of us have dyno'd w/ a coil on design so we ended up using wheel speed. why 4th gear?
I prefer 3rd gear. You get a slightly better score (few HP) and not as much load. I have had it done both ways.
4th is over drive btw (.89).
For the RPM reading clip the wire to the coil pack closest to the passenger side. The wheel speed calculation isn't the most accurate.

we tried all the wires on that coil pack and couldnt get a reading...weird. the wheel speed calculation is more accurate on an eddy current dyno but still. thx for the 3rd gear tip.
so, has anyone dynoed on one of these dynos or has everyone used the dynojet/mustang, etc.?

okay, got the sheets up for my eddy current dyno as well as my runs on a dyno most of you are familiar with: just as suspected (appx. 40% incr. from eddy to inertia)
this first dyno is from kaz motorsports (c springs) on a dyno dynamics eddy current dyno uncorrected (3rd gear)

this next one is at dyno pro (denver) on an inertia dyno uncorrected in 4th gear

this one is at dyno pro corrected (red is 4th gear, blue is 3rd). fwiw, the correction factor was the same at kaz motorsports the day i dyno'd down there and the day i dyno'd at bear's
