ECOTEC build book which includes upgrades for the SS/SC!!!!!
Hey all,
At the Dream Cruise on Woodward in Michigan this weekend I visited the GM Performance Parts tent and I asked a man about stage upgrades for the Cobalt SS. He enthusiastically said that they were out, and if not then he thinks they're comming out very soon. After that he gave me an Eco Tec build book and in it it shows the parts that you need to make your 2.2L EcoTec engine up to 1,000hp. Well as you can imagine I started feeling kind of down cause I only saw things for the 2.2 in the book. But in the back of the book they DO have upgrades for our SS/SC.
These upgrades include:
-Low restiction air filter
-smaller pulley (77.9mm); compared to our stock 84mm.
-because of the smaller pulley a belt change is required to keep proper tension on the tensioner pulley
-replacement aftercooler that requires removal of the A/C condensor
-Corsa Exhaust with CAT delete
-Final Drive LSD system
-B&M aluminum shifter
-new half shafts
-modified front and rear suspensions
-brakes
-carbon fiber breaks ducts
-new steering system
-and carbon fiber pannels
This setup is basically a way for you to duplicate the Grand Am Cup (St Class) Racing Series Cobalt. This cobalt also included a roll cage.

All sounds awesome.. But one thing I don't like is..
Having to remove the A/C to have an aftermarket aftercooler in.. I mean that means no air condition.. Is it will worth it?? Like how much will it improve to remove the A/C??
But the rest of the stuff sounds awsome.. I mean I would like to do the LSD but that will probbaly be too expensive.. The only thing I would probably do is the B and M shifter which is out already and the brake mods...

I've been thinking the same thing...... What about my air conditioning?! I don't use it most of the time but if it's raining and hot out I use it. This is my driver. The build book does state that the aftercooler is for die hard racers but is essential for long duration races.
