Emergency.

I am helping someone with there car. It's a 2006 ss/sc with the ottp stage 1 kit and tune. The car was driving fine all day and now that were in a parking lot he goes to start and it will start, rev to roughly 2k, as the rpms drop it sounds normal, then they drop below his 850 idle line to roughly 500 and then she stalls.

The only code he is throwing is a p0443 evap code, what in the hell would cause his car to not stay running?

I do have hptuners with me, so let me know if theres anything I can do to help him.

Thanks for your time.

Did the vac line come off of the TB or the EVAP solenoid?

I don't believe so, all connections look good. When he gives it gas the car makes a VERY weird hard to describe sound. It's like a raaaaaaaaaaaaaaawr sound.....i know that doesn't help but its VERY hard to describe.

07laser - no his motors not blown, its an ss/sc. It will start just not idle.

Can someone post up a picture of the motor with all of the vaccum lines connected, maybe theres something I am missing.

There is a sound coming from the cold air intake, directly under neath the CAI. It sounds like gear whine.

ok we are getting somewhere. With the car off he tapped the gas and I heard a clicking, its the throttle body butter fly. Why is it clicking? It's like getting stuck or hitting something, why?

The butterfly in the TB is clicking and is VERY hard to move by hand, dont know if this is supposed to be hard to move or move easily without the key in the ignition, without it running etc. But with the car off, key not in etc when he taps the gas the butterfly it the TB clicks. My car does NOT do this. What would cause this?

Anyone know if a throttle body is supposed to be HARD to move by hand, like the butterfly in the TB is very difficult to move. When he touches the gas with the car off you can hear the butterfly open and close, it makes a ticking sound like its grinding against the metal.

ok so its not the TB, its just making a really odd sound coming from the CAI, like the CAI is trying to suck in the world

Its not the TB, its not the fuel rail, I don't see any lose vacuum hoses etc.

Basically it sounds like the CAI wants to suck up the world. There is a really ODD sound coming from the cai.

No news on the problem bro thanks for asking though. I went over EVERY vaccum line, every hose, every wire, every sensor, everything. I really have NO clue what it is... But the car was towed to a dealership and we will go from there.

I don't know if I said this was a buddies car or not, but its not my car its a buddies car. However I do appreciate all of the help and so quickly.

I didn't pull the intake all the way out, but I didn't feel an actual whole. I am actually thinking its a clogged fuel filter believe it or not. The only 3 things you need for an internal combustion engine to run is fuel, spark and oxygen. The spark is fine because his plugs are new and gapped correctly from what he said, I didn't pull them, the oxygen is there because were not in outer space lol so that leaves fuel. The fuel pump will prime and the car will start, but the fuel pump or the fuel filter is not producing enough fuel to keep the motor alive.

I took off the coupler at the throttle body and ran the throttle body open and tried to start the car, no luck, tried no air filter on the cai no luck, tried with maf no luck, without maf no luck, so I really don't think its an oxygen related issue, but it could be a bad maf sensor. But to me logic would dictate that its fuel related because I have seen cars run without mafs, without cai's, just with open throttle body's etc. The cars don't like it, but they will START and stay running, just not drivable.

well the evap is on the engine i think. There is also another part of that evap stuff in the canister. i had to repalce my evap stuff at 51000 miles. i also had to repalce my maf at 43000 miles. i had these same symptoms both times.
