Emissions Testing in NC

Has anyone in NC had the next inspection with emissions testing done since putting in an Intense kit or a GM kit? I know the GM kit is supposed to be emissions legal, but I'm wondering what the results are none the less.

As long as you have a catalytic converter on... you should pass emissions just fine. The standards aren't that strict... and I've seen some pretty crappy vehicles that smoke/smell a lot pass just fine.

I heard they jack into your OBII port and send the results up to Raleigh, any truth on that? That makes me nervous about tuning my car.

That rumor is true... they do plug into your OBDII port and the results are sent to raliegh... no more just skipping inspection... you get a 30 day grace period... then they mail you a ticket... you should still be able to tune just fine... think of all the riced cars you see around just belching smoke... you'll be alright...

Yes my friend... I think it's crap too... there are bigger things to worry about... but the bad thing is... cars without OBDII are exempt... and yet I see that they are the ones making the most pollution.

Bigger things indeed, who's up on the chopping block during these mid term elections? I'm very upset with my gas tax, someones not getting my vote this time.

If you have what appears to be a cat on and your check engine light isnt on then you will pass. They look for the CEL because the emissions test in nc is only a computer emissions test. If your O2 sensors are teling your computer that your cat converter is good then they will pass it. I am not shure about the intense kit and you can ask SSonthebrain about Stg2 i think he has it. If you do get a CEL you have to go through a few driving cycles for your computer to read Ready. I think i saw you driving around this weekend. I know there is at least 2 laser blue SS/SC's in JVille. I got the Black one with the dark tint and the tint stripe on the front with red calipers.

You may have, do you have an aftermarket exhaust? No CELs yet, so mod on for me. I saw another Blue SS S/C, he was screwing around with what looked to be a modded Camaro. He turned on his dome lights, but traffic was nuts at that point.

No exhaust yet. I am going to get the gmpp when i get some money. Do you have stock rims. There are a lot of people around here who dont even know that the cobalt exists. There was some guy in a hemi ram who pulled up next to me at a light reving his **** like i was driving a frikin sunfire or something. I whooped his ass. At the next light i looked over and his freind was laughing at him and making fun of him so i got out of there befor I Got ran over.

Yeah I have stock rims, and I just got GMPP Sport exhaust this weekend, I put it on Friday. I've said it time and again, nobody wants to play with me. It's discouraging. Did you go around and whoop all the local retards? They leave me alone.

ok then it wasnt you. the blue one i saw had dif rims on it. they didnt look better than stock though. Yah i usually go around once a week and play with a couple mustangs and the usual. Did you put your exhaust on yourself or did you go to east coast performance and have them do it? Where did you get your gmpp from and how much was it.

Here in Texas in certain cities like Dallas, the OBDI cars get put on a treadmill and have a sniffer hooked up to the tail pipe. Cars aren't exempt until they're 25 years old. They just connect to the computer on the OBDII cars. I wonder what they look for on the OBDII cars. I know with custom tuning and O2 simulators you can make the computer happy and think everything is ok.
