Well like I said this involves my engine and exhaust on my 2006 ss / sc. I basically fabricated and installed my own version of the magnaflow exhaust on my about a month after purchase. And to honestly tell you IM not sure of ther performance ramifications, im assuming close to magnaflows results. So because I installed it so quickly I dont even know what the engine sounds like stock.

Basically the exhaust was so loud I am sick of it. Today I installed a chambered resonator in line and man does the exhaust sound better. Much deeper and a lot les bite. Basically driving around I now hear my engine. Its a pretty loud engine in these cars.

Ive always thought it was loud from what i could tell, its like you hear the valves and the injectors. I have been worried that something is wrong and always ask when its in for service, they always tell me nothing is wrong, thats just how the gm ecotecs sound. Is this the truth are they just loud engines.

Also I know i could search for similar questions but, it seems like all the answers are vague and dont say yes or no.

Also im sure if something was wrong the sound would be harsh and also performance problems would occur. I just want some say from you guys since there are many knowledgeable people on here.

Well... for starters... the Magnaflow cat-back does have a resonator on it... these cars are loud as **** without one. Secondly... the LSJ does make a lot of "noise" purrs and ticks and what-not. If it drives fine, no CELs, and the dealer says it's fine... I'd say it's ok.

 

like they said, the ecotecs are noisy engines... nothing to worry about

 

good to hear, yeah its no insanely loud engine noise and no cel's and performance is still there
