Engine Knocking in 2nd gear?

Alright I did a search, and all I could come up with is what the ticking noise is when the car is shut off. For about 2 weeks now I have herd a weird knocking noise coming from the motor. It doesn't do it when I start it up, or when I idle. After I come back after a freeway drive or the car has been running for awhile, it will make a loud enough knocking noise for me to hear it coming from the motor. Exactly where at I have no idea since it will not do it when it idles. In my complex I go down a slight little hill so I leave it in 2nd gear and let it wind down and it will make the knocking sound, once I give it some gas and get it a little above 2k it seems to go away, or if i push the clutch in it will stop making the noise. I was wondering if I should take this in and have it looked at, if it is really serious? or if it is just one of those anoying things you have to put up with since we own cobalts?

I checked the oil level and it is right where it should be. As I said it is not a ticking noise. It is a knocking noise and it is happening when the car is running, in 2nd gear around 2k rpms. It sounds like it is coming from the top of the motor but beyond that I cannot really tell. I have no check engine lights, and the car idle fines.
