Engine swap + turbo?

A buddy of mine has a 07 ss. he has a lsj but he is thinking of getting a turbo.

he is thinking of turboing the lsj.

also, a friend with the 2.4 LE5 N/A engine offered him a trade. he will give his LE5 + 500 cash, + he is going to have a shop do the swap for him, for the LSJ.

which one should he go for? im thinking take the LE5 and turbo that.

Why? He will have to spend a load more than that to build the LE5 anyways, then you still have to deal with the computer/etc.

There is no set, "It can run XXpsi". 12psi on one turbo could equal 27psi on another.

And having a shop swap all that... $$$$

There's a reason why gm supercharged a lsj and not a 2.4

yea, my friends not paying for the shop to swap it, the guy with the 2.4 is going to pay for it, and put 500 cash on top as well

Yeah..point was he could have a built engine and a nice turbo set up likely cheaper. I don't see it happening.

It's simple..For the LE5 to pay a shop to swap two motors, deal with the wiring/computer, and still put cash on top of it he could just build his 2.4..

380-400whp is safe on stock internals on an lsj. ur tranny will start hating you but the motor will love it

im not sure what you mean...

he traded his LSJ, for the LE5, someone to install the engine(do the swap) correctly, and 500 cash.

It would be cool to swap a LE5 or LSJ into a LT. Would the harness for the body work? Or is there more than just a motor/tranny swap and plugging everything in?

actually... tranny swap is not needded...

maybe if you do it in a LT, the stock LT trans wont be able to handle the power... but my friend just did engine swap. same trans

no point in swapping to any variant of the Ecotec motor unless you're looking to do some type of hybrid build

they can all be built for relatively the same price
