exaust ticking/crakling sound

I was just wondering if you guys exaust does the same thing (a ticking sound from the metal contraction/expention of the exaust). Mine always does it, at first I figured it was from the car being brand new, but now, it still does it, even while running....anyone else? it is the first car I ever owned that does it constantly too...weird

Normal. If you think the Cobalt is bad, go listen to an SER Spec V.

Yah normal but annoying as hell.

Does anyone have an aftermarket setup that doesn't tick while driving or cooling?

mine does it at idle and when turned off...eh no big deal just was weird to have a car do it all the time rather than doing it after you shut it off...

We're talking about two different things here.

The exhaust tick is normal. Expansion and contraction of the piping.

The tap-tap-tap-tap is the self check of the power trunk release. Also normal.

Exhaust is totally normal. All of the Cobalts do that.

The exhaust tick is coming from the stock resonator. A full catback system, or a simple resonator swap with a straight through Magnaflow unit will make it go away.

I did my custom axleback with Borla muffler first, leaving the stock resonator in place, and still had the tick. About a month and a half later I had a Magnaflow resonator welded in place of the stock unit, and no more tick.

My magnaflow got rid of the tick. Like they said its due to the resonator.
