exhaust cutout???????
exhaust cutout???????
I have read all the threads about exhaust cutouts on this site and everyone seems to put it after the cat?? or way back near the stock exhaust. this makes no sense to me i thought the whole purpose was to eliminate the cat and have it dump the exhaust as soon as possible. does anyone have a vid or information on eliminating the cat? i am about to order one and was going to remove the cat and place the cutout in its place on the stock exhaust?? please any info would be great....

The cat is a major restriction, relatively speaking. Not to mention you want to have the shortest path possible to atmosphere for the exhaust so the engine has to do the least amount of work to pump those gasses out.

1 on my DP before my 2 resonators
1 before my summit quiet muffler.
I had to put the cutout after my cat because there just isn't any room before the cat. But now I run a header with catless dp. So it doesn't matter, I just have the cutout right before the stock catback exhaust. So it's like open downpipe when the cutout is open. Very loud. But the performance is definitely different. Most people think I should have a loss in low end tq. But the car is tuned with the cutout open, so there is no loss.
if i just unplug the o2 sensor will it throw a code?? why is everyone so dead set in keeping the cat.... i just want the cutout to dump straight out after the header but where i can close it and run quiet like normal for highway driving...
I'm catless now and it's pretty damn quiet on the stock catback exhaust. I had my wife ride behind me today since she was in town and I got off early and she said she couldn't even hear me.
