Question Exhaust Note and engine noise question.

Hey guys i have a question. What exhaust and/or header combo would produce a nice deep mellow tone (and some nice performance as well)? Im looking for deep tones not loud honda rice exhaust noise or high pitched noise. Also i dont like the popping noise either. I had on my accord an Apexi WS exhaust and dc header and for a 4-cylinder it sounded deep and mellow even high in the revs. Some people thought i had a beefy 6-cylinder. So if i can produce near similar results would be great!

Also when some of you bought your car new, when ever you guys would stop somewhere and shut off the engine, do you hear a pinging sound and is this normal for this car? It doesnt last for a long time just for a while as the car is cooling down from a normal drive. I do run 93 octane in it, so i dunno what else could be.

lol thats funny, yea i know my accord got sad when i traded her in. I get anxious to get back in my cobalt to get on the road again.

Actually one more question too, When your comming to a stop and you put your foot in the clutch to disengage the gear, why do the rpm's still remain at 1.5 until after a min being stopped? It weirds me out, makes me think that im pressing both the brake and the gas at the same time.

I believe the RPM hangs around 1500 until you drop below like 5mph or so to make it easier to get back into gear. As soon as I'm below 5, just before I come to a stop, it drops down to idle.

the rpm jumping is caused by the fly-by-wire. whenever you push in the clutch the computer aotumatically revs the engine a little, preparing for a downshift. its a normal cobalt bug. if you are sitting in neutral at a light, and the revs are jumping, just bump the throttle a little, and it will go back to idle.

thats what i thought it was a feature of the ecu. I had a feeling that this car had Drive by wire system. And that it did do that on purpose. Thanks for the reassurance in my theory.

Another hint that it is drive by wire is the fact that there is no throttle cable under the hood
