Exhaust opinions...

Now that there are a few exhausts out for our cars (2.0L S/C), I'd like to know what a few of you think about the different specs of each.

Borla and DC Sports both use 2.25" piping, while others are using 2.5" piping.

I'm wondering on the 2.0L S/C, what do you guys think of 2.25" piping being used instead of 2.5" as far as performance is concerned? Would it only matter at higher power levels?

The reason I ask is because I really like the sound of the DC Sports and know it will sound and look right, but I'm worried about the 2.25" piping from a performance aspect. Otherwise, I'd make my own with 2.5" and have to wait and see what it sounds like after I spend the money on it.

Thanks in advance for your insight.

Highflow Cat would make more of a diference than just a Cat-Back.

It creates a bottle-neck that no size of cat back will alter.

Basically, I am saying the 2.25 is more than addequate if the cat would be swapped.

That is your best "Performance" Answer.

I have a different question...do any of the exhausts available not sound ricey? Im looking for not much more sound...more performance and most importantly reasonably priced.

all of the exhaust out pretty much sound like crap. Every company is being very conservative with the sound. And they sound like fart cans. It really just depends on what your going to do with your car. If your staying under 325 HP 2.5 will cut it but you would see more performance in the upper RPM with a 3”. Regardless of what people say making claims like 2.5 is good for 500 HP is nonsense. Those claims are not car specific and are not proven. What is proven are the gains upwards of 15 HP and 9 lb torque on my 3” exhaust and same for others vs many who get 5-10 HP.from other companies. The dynos are posted on this website and the .com. depending on what your going to mod you shouldn’t worry too much about the low end torque as much because it will build eventually as you add mods. Having the same amount of torque we have now at very low rpms and then adding on top of it would make it hard to lauch out of first gear.

When it comes time to swap the exhaust, I am going to do it a custom way. Mac has a setup that has all the bends for about $150. Then I am going to get a Flowmaster muffler at about $85. Then a pint of exhaust paint to protect the pipes (the exhaust is not stainless steel) $35. That with the labour to hook it up will come in around $400-450 CAD. Albeit not stainless but with the high temp paint, it will do just fine and will still be 2.5" without the "rice" sound. Flowmasters sound the best and flow the best.

A 2.50" exhaust will be more than enough.

3.00" is too big and does not help with high end newbies may think otherwise but everyone is entitled to there opinion. Even if a 3.00" added 1-2HP at 5800-6400rpm that wouldn't make up for the loss 5800rpm and less.

My Camaro SS had a single 3.50" exhaust pipe and the other had a single 2.75" bothe cars had 310HP plus at the wheels.

S/C or not a 2.0 will not pump enough exhaust out at any RPM to keep up enough velocity in a 3.00" exhaust.

i personally like the gmpp the best, ive done research and heard alot of different types, but for the price, you get a nice sound, a few extra ponies and a good look, just my 2 cents.
