Exhaust Question.

I have recently sold my zzp midlength head and downpipe combo along with my full custom catback. The reason I sold it is because I wanted to purchase a BRAND NEW setup.

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything bad about this website.

http://www.mandrelexhaustsystems.com...EXHAUST/Detail

I figure all that is missing is a resonator and I can pick that up anywhere. Now as far as the header and dp go I have a brand new zzp 3inch downpipe sitting in my living room, so I need a new header to go with it. I would need a 3 bolt flange on the header obviously and I plan on pushing 400whp this summer so a header that can flow very well is needed.

Any ideas and input would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know what you think would work best for a header and what you think of the website.

Zach Zach Zach, pull your head out of your ass and just buy the Hahn header with the Hahn dp. Just buy the best and be done with it. Also, Im going to need you to finally finish the tune for me soon(engine should be back in in about a week or so)

=D just shoot me an email with the current tune and what needs to be finalized in it. I saw in your thread you thanked everyone in the world except your tuner cough cough cough, THANKS.

lol I don't really want to drop a bunch of money on the hahn setup even if it is the "best". What do you think of the catback though from that site?

What other recommendations do you have besides the hahn setup for the header?

Hahn header isn't the best..... get the pacesetter, get the pos bell end cut off of it and get it either welded to the dp or get a custom flange put on.

A few people on rlf have put that mandrel system on and had no complaints with them.

Im not sure. I think the whole setup from Hahn is soo sick and worth the money. I done soo much research for months on what exhaust I wanted and everything I found just didnt cut the cake for me. When I came across the Hahn and listened to it I was like OMFG sooo sick. Nothing really compares imo. It has that deep tone and def sounds like alot more going on than that of a 2.0l.lol. There are many other good systems out there but I really dont like the Magnaflow myself or most others. Just soo many others have the raspyness sound which I cant stand, it just reminds me of the ricers is all. As far as my post, I will revise it and add you. I was on about 2 hours of sleep when I wrote it hence the reason I said I probably forgot some people.lol. Also, talk with Bill Jr. over at Hahn he would probably give you a smokin deal on the setup.

I guess I could mabye agree with you on that. I have heard great things about it. We just have the Hahn log style manifold since we are turbo'd now so I have never seen the header myself. The pacesetter header is a good header. If you want one Zach I have one that was on the car for about 1,000 miles and has 2 bungs installed if you have a wideband. I can sell it to you cheap if interested. Let me know

Ok..you're talking about sound, zach is talking about performance.
You dont use a catless dp and you're not gonna have the ricer sound lol...
Pacesetter design has been proven to be one of the highest flowers. Why do you think that ZZP's midlength and pacesetter designs are just about the same exact thing?
I'm talking about real testing and #'s not fanboy "this header is awesome bc I spent the money on it".

Get a custom titanium or aliminum exhaust done. A performance shop says thay can make me 3 in piping all the way to the header that only weighs 2-5 pounds. 1400 bucks though. He said I can see the weight on a scale if I dont believe him. Just choose your muffler, resonator and cat of choice.

Jeez dude, sorry that I forgot to mention performance. I know Zach and ofc I know he wants performance but he drives his car ALOT all over the country so the sound is an important factor for him as well. When I did my reseach I didnt just look for the best sounding exhaust and leave the performance end out. My balt is probably going to be dynoing around 450whp when it hits the dyno in 2 weeks so you think Im not performance minded???? like give a guy a break here.

I get such a kick out of guys on this forum. I wish some people had a look at my threads before posting idiotic ******* posts on here and trying to knock me.lmfao.

Lol i'm not being a dick I'm just saying it's been proven.
You can make any exhaust sound good on these cars..what i mentioned above is one of the if not the "best" option for it though.

Ok, hence the reason I had the pacesetter on my car before my turbo conversion. I did do my homework there didnt I???

I do believe that Hahn was the right choice for us now that we are turbo'd. 3" high flowing exhaust thats proven on dynos and is up there with the best. The only knowledge I was lacking was that in regards to their header.

=D Boys boys boys, relax its all good guys. I will hit you up about that pacesetter header and see what kinda deal you wanna give me, although I think my buddy has one along with a downpipe for practically a steal but we will see =D. YGPM.

As far as the exhaust though I am thinking pacesetter header, 3inch zzp downpipe and then the magnaflow exhaust from mandrelexhaustsystems.com or w/e.

Do you guys think I should go with the magnaflow muffler or the borla? Which one would be deeper?

And on a side note stop bickering you guys. You guys are both my friends and both know me and what I want. I do care about performance a lot but sound means something too since I travel. I want something that isn't going to be obnoxiously loud but yet still have a nice deep tone to it.

lol the person asking isn't turbo...

zach i got a vid of mine with a magnaflow...it's not the magna that most people use and sounds alot better haha..only time you get any rasp is when the pipes are cold. it's a bit loud maybe nothing a resonator won't fix though.

The CTI header/downpipe is a nice quality piece. I would have no issues picking up 3" exhaust from mendrelexhaustsystems.com. I would put a 3" Dynomax race muffler where the resonator would go though.

Well it appears that I will be purchasing the 3inch catback from mandrelexhaustsystems since no one has anything bad to say about them. As far as the header and downpipe combo goes, I am still reading up and taking opinions and will be purchasing everything monday. Thanks for all of the help.

Keep us informed. I'm potentially looking at purchasing a cat-back from them in the future as well. I'd be interested to hear how you like yours once you get a chance to have it installed.

I will be installing all of it before the motor build. I am pushing my internal work back and all of that jazz for at least a month until I have some more "back up" money. But ya monday the catback is going to be ordered. I will keep everyone updated and post video clips and all that stuff too when its installed.
