Exhaust Question

I have a CTI 3" DP and Magnaflow 2.5" CB, I am having rasp.. what should i do? I just bought one of the good Stainless Steel JBP "Noodle" headers but haven't installed it. Any ideas?

its common for lsj's to have rasp, the setup you have is good but i cant explain the rasp. ive had friends with the same setup and it sounded great. back in the day i had the cti 3" dp to a 2.5 costum exhaust and it sounded like this....
YouTube - Cobalt SS wine/exhaust
Thats the best i could get it; i loved it though.

on another note! when you put the header on its just going to get louder...

oh i know, that's why i wanna fix this now, lol, is it possible my resonator is blown on my exhaust? At the tip i sounds a i dunno hissing sound? Its weird never heard it before. That vid sounded good, what CB combo did you do? Do you know who makes good exhaust gaskets? need new ones.

yea i had a high flow cat cti 3" dp and the 2.5" catback with a magnaflow resonator and muffler. it was cheaper to peace a catback together...you can get a gasket at a muffler shop and as for the sound my best suggestion would be to get a magnaflow offset/center oval muffler, if anything that "should" help. it toned mine down greatly.

the rasp is due to the fact that you dont have a cat. best bet would be a Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator

worked wonders on my v6. at first was raspy as hell with those flowmasters on there....but then the Vibrant Resonators toned it down and its super deep now.

Magnaflow mufflers suck. They sound pretty good for a few thousand miles and then go to crap. Get chambered muffler without fiberglass packing.

im gonna have to disagree with you on this one. i've had magnaflow on nearly all my vehicles. hell i had magnaflow on my deisel before i went straight pipe. they last the length of the car and sound awesome. but thats just my opinion. you're of course entitled to yours...no matter how wrong it is. jk

I agree and if the stainlessworks muffler is out of your price range you could always get a dynomax Super Turbo muffler. There alot cheaper in price but still good quality and will quiet your car down alot.

Good header? I take it you havn't seen the dyno results where people lost HP due to the header? Trust me, it is ****. Have you looked at it? How the hell would that have good airflow?

What are the supporting mods? do you know? I know for what Im going to do, ill b where i want with the JBP. I know its sh*t to you, u can have your opinion. i get mixed reviews from everyone. Ill put it on, if i hate it, ill sell it. easy enough.

It does cut off power when you have to small of a pulley, 2.7 would b the smallest to go, and most of the ppl who hate it, have a TVS. Or just reads about it online. But yea Ive read all about what they have done, for hours and hours. The member i bought it from supplied me a dyno sheet with his set up and the JBP, i will be satisfied with the numbers it puts down. Close to 300. Anyone who buys a JBP gets it for the sound...

The muffler has to break in, give it time, the sound should get deeper and deeper.

a muffler sounds its best brand new, if anything its going to sound the same or get worse i spent mad $$ in different exhaust methods/combos and i finally solved my loud exhaust problem after a year in trial n' error, i finally got it to sound good with a 3" exhaust.......i turbo swapped the damn car
YouTube - Cobalt SS/SC Hahn Converted Exhaust
yes i kno everyone cant just get up and turbo swap but its well worth it. if possible you should save your money and get the zzp twin charge kit or the new turbo kit they released not too long ago....
