exhaust sound

exhaust sound
ive got the zzp header and 3 inch downpipe no cat stock catback system. this car sounds so ricey i hate getting on the gas.
im looking to get rid of the bees in a can sound and maybe get it a little more quiet. its not too loud, actually you cant hear the car while cruising down the street at all. there is a nice rasp to it when going slow but once i hit the gas it sounds bad.
so my question is, with this setup what are my options should i be looking for a full catback system or just a muffler to kill the buzz? any suggestions? i dont mind spending a little cash as long as it doesnt sound like it does.

i did get a cat it was no good.
why not zzp they make good stuff?
why not 3 inch?
i will eventually get a cat on there but not anytime soon even when the cat was on it had a bad buzz sound im not into the sound. so if you have any suggestions that would help out it would be appreciated. but if not why bother typing

I think whats hes getting at is you have so much exhuast flowing and then it hits you stock system and gets restricted so much. your going from 3" to 2.25". thats not good. personally i would recomend 2.5" all the way back. maybe that will scare the bees away

its probably going to be louder with a catback exhaust, thats just from my own experience from going from shorty header, catless 2.5" downpipe and stock exhaust to that same setup with a 3" CTI, it was louder than hell, enough to set off car alarms and actually hurt your ears.
On another not, an aftermarket catback does take out some of the rasp and nastiness of the sound, i'd suggest catback if you were to add another resonator in to make up for the catless downpipe, or maybe put in a catalytic converter and aftermarket catback for best sound results
I'm running long tube header catless going to 3" after the collector with 2- 3" resonators, y piped to two 2.25" resonators with 2 2.25" mufflers on the end and its still loud as hell (mainly cause its all straight through exhaust) but it sounds pretty awesome when its warmed up.

just 2 days ago i installed my zzp header (1.75")/2.5" downpipe with hi flow cat...i also have the gmpp sport catback....this car sounds badass! noticeably deeper at idle, not too loud at lower rpms. once you jump on the throttle though, the exhaust SCREAMS...yet it never ever sounds raspy or ricey. it's pretty throaty throughout the rev range, and it doesn't sound tinny, nor does it pop and cackle a lot at all.

ya and ive owned a few other 4cyl that didnt sound ricey. my 2.5 gm truck sounds great with 3 inch piping to a nice muffler, sounds great deep rumble no rasp no bees. my 2.2 turbo dodge and my 2.5 turbo dodge one with straight 3inch nothing and one with no cat cherry bomb and 3inch muffler both sound amazing deep mellow sounds. my 2.3 turbo coupe with dual exhaust no cats monza mufflers sound great too.
the exhaust on my truck was there for sound not power. not everyone buys a slow car and tries to make it fast by adding an exhaust. and also who says 5whp is a shitload
i def know more people who buy exhausts for the sound and not to make more power

i think loud isnt classy at all no offense, your neighbors dont like it, wakes everyone up, people dont like to hear it while your driving, i make fun of people with loud exhaust thinking their ba's. you cant sneak around or do anything quite people will always judge you with your loud exhuast, thats just me though
only reason im looking at the header/dp combo bc i know im throwing so much air into the engine and its not getting out. 1.75prim with 2.5 cat dp to the stock exhuast and if it sounds junky you guys will see it on the classified pages

are you planning on getting an aftermarket exhaust at some point? if so, i would hold off on the resonators. why spend money on the resonator, weld it up, just to have to take it off and put it on a new pipe. but yes, a resonator will help. i have the zzp setup as well, and a magnaflow cat back, and my car is pretty quiet considering.
