Exhaust Ticket

Just thought i would let somebody know that apparently you can get tickets for exhaust because apparently when its not stock and they popo heres it they can pull you over and hook ya up with a 70 dollar ticket. I mean me and campo165 were just movin through out campus never floored it or anything i just hit about 5-6k with the hahn 3" exhaust. and he gets really pissed about this and flies to catch up and take me down and from my understanding just gives me a bogus exhaust ticket rather than a "racing" and "speeding" and "wreckless driving" tickets. So what does anyone think should i just pay the 71.50 for the ticket or try to fight cause apparently i cant find anything that say the hahn is 50 states legal. thanks Matt

I think those state laws have to prove that you were either
A) Above a certain decibal limit
B) Being a public nuisance.

IF this happened during the day when it was crowded and busy, no way in hell.
Only way I would see this standing up in trial is if it was 2am.

For future reference, don't rev your engine in front of cops.

i got a $350 fine for disturbing the piece with my camaro. granted you could hear me start this thing literally from over a mile away. not much they could do as far as making me redo my exhaust since there aren't really any exhaust regulations in the county i live in but apparently there are noise ordinances LOL. i guess a 450-500 whp fuel injected 383 with single chambered flowmasters is alittle loud LOL.

Well i didnt rev it in front of the cop, i was just driving. after he pulled me over though, he asked me to rev it. i stayed out of boost for the rev tho so a lot of exhaust didnt go through (it was a hell of a lot quieter than i shouldve been).

should i just pay it or no?

It happens, i've been pulled over in my old S10 for excessive noise with i had my Magnaflow exhaust on it, apparently if it's louder than the stock factory exhaust it's deemed a noise violation, which pretty much makes every single performance exhaust made illegal ~ lol. :p

aftermarket exhaust is illegal her in IL too, I got a warning to get it fixed, dont plan on doing it. I think it is BS because I have yet to see a truck or harley pulled over for their exhaust.

the campus speed limits are normally 15-25. you revving first gear to 5-6k rpms was probably faster then that. Also, let me get this straight, your pissed that you got a ticket for some thing like that because yuo were to lazy to see if it was 50 state legal and would rather get a ticket for something much higher to make it worth it? You seem like a immature little kid that got his car given to him and expect the world to cater to you...good luck with that.

i didnt pay for my exhaust ticket and ill tell you why, the cop never hooked the little meter to my car to measure the decibals and well since he didnt do that i told the judge that and the judge got rid of it so when a cop pulls me over for exhasut i tell them ok measure it now and if they dont ahev the machine they cant give you a ticket and if they do i go and give the ticket to my dad and he gets rid of it. but when they pull you over tell them, measure my exhaust. if they dont have the machine tell them ok so how do you its illegal?

Better a 70 dollar exhaust ticket that the reckless.

Reckless means 6 pts, suspension and a mis demeanor and lawyer fees if you don't want all that on your license. I got away for about 1000 dollars with my reckless ticket.

A burst to 5-6K on a 3 inch exhaust would sound like a mild shotgun blast. At least the Vibrant does. roffles

Yeah apparently im a spoiled little kid when i had to finance this dang thing for 72 months and had to save my pennys for it for only like hhhmmmmm 15 or 16 months so i could afford the payments on the damn thing so shut the funk up. yeah and the speed limit thing its only 30 which is the speed we were doing but since we were side by side apparently that is considered street racing up to the speed limit i dunno. And sorry son, the world is not catered to me i pay for my college, car, and rent and all that crap so sorry i cater to the world

I dunno i was just gunna take that exhaust ticket and not the one for reckless driving and getting arrested for "street racing" at like 30 miles an hour.... so imma just pay the stupid thing

You never have to rev it for the cop, they are asking you to incriminate yourself.

I had an exhaust cut out on my saturn a while back in Orlando and had no problems. Then again i didnt go around high reving it, i would just drive normally next time. We all like to hear exhaust at times, but dont do it at colleges or other highly populated areas. Maybe you were trying to show off? who knows, but most people could give a rats ass.

Hope no one saw the act, b/c i might have to laugh if i saw some one rev their engine, then get pulled over LOL

yeah, we had a guy in our SS clan here get pulled over for speeding and the state trooper made a comment about him hearing him get out of it, adn then back on it when "the coast was clear" and that while they might all be 50 state legal to SELL, it's not always legal to INSTALL.

PA has a thing were it's not a primary offense, but they can use it as an excuse at times. I talked to a trooper here that's friends of a relative, and he said the same thing. He'd never pull someone over for it, unless they were being stupid, or after being pulled over being a hard ass.

Pay the fine and keep out of the stratosphere rev range around residential / school zone areas.

the easiest way to avoid being noticed is to get into the highest gear possible for your speed. People used to give me **** when I was already in 5th when im at like 35-40
