exhaust tips make a difference?
i used to have a subie lgt and i got a flowmaster exhaust system put on it..it originally came iwth a 2.5 inch tip and i switched to a 4 inch..there definetly will be a difference maybe not huge but if ur going bigger it will be a little more "open or deep sounding" and smaller is a little quieter and "compressed or tight" sounding...but just a small difference nothing terrible different..thats my experience anyways

yea i drove with the smaller tip for about 2 weeks when i was waiting for the other to show up..it was by no means a big difference at all but the tip kind of cleaned up the sound..again not a big difference but there was a difference nonetheless
on my car i have a magnaflow 5x8x18" muffler, 2.5" pipe. i have a 2.5" pipe comming off the muffler and then the gm tip (3.5" iirc). one day driving down the freeway the tip (and pipe out of the muffler) came off and it made a huge difference in sound. i stuck a 2.5" pipe angle cut out the bumper till i can get a new tip, its quieter than it was with the gm tip.
