Exhaust vs SC Upgrade??

I'm looking for some advice. I'm a self proclaimed noob to this site (and Cobalt SS Performance mods, in general). I've been driving my ss/sc for over a year now, and I'm ready to start with the mods. I've started with an Injen CAI. Next step, CA's Stage 4 OR GMPP header/XTC downpipe/GMPP catback? The "Pros" at my dealership gave me the bunny in the head lights look when I asked for their advice. Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Pros and cons of both or one over the other? Thanks in advance.

I'm just full of questions...

Have a question about doing the stg4, though. Can the stock exhaust handle the extra flow that will be generated witht eh stg4? Wouldn't want to wind it up heading down the highway and blow something out due to over pressure.

Worth is only according to the person doing the modification. You really aren't the one to tell someone else what isn't worth doing.

Just being honest.

To the original poster, figure out what you want from your car and how much you're willing to invest into the car. Research in the results some people are getting from the change, talk to the owners and see if they like it and then make an educated guess as to what you want to do either way.

That wouldn't happen.

Of course they're going to give you that look. Just because they work at a dealership dosen't mean they know everything about the car and all its mods. Plus they know if something gets F-ed up on it you'll come to them to get it fixed and aftermarket products can be a pain in the ass to get around

That wouldn't happen.
every person around my area that has a gm kit confirms what i said...worthless...

if you compare your performance per dollar amount the gm kits are the most expansive and provide some small gains...

just being honest.

That's fine...you can ask 20 people how they feel about it...still doesn't mean that he won't like it.

If you're thinking about performance per dollar, you wouldn't own a supercharged car...or atleast a car with an M62.

Trust me, GM techs aren't as dumb as you may think. When you fry a piston because you didn't do something properly, they aren't going to think it was from stock. 1 + 1 = 2, things add up. There is typically evidence of you doing something you shouldn't have done.

I love my stage 2. And iv gotten a clutch and an axel changed under warrenty since I had it installed. So it has definately paid off for me. And to turn your car back to stock is going to take how many hours for every time you take it in. Plus all they have to do is look at the bolts on the pulley and see that is has been taken off.

Depends.

Try and pull that on my buddy Maven in Jersey...he's a master technician and the smartest automotive guy I've ever come in contact with. He also works at a GM dealership.

I've read quite a few threads where dealers give them hassles and people try and swindle them over but don't work.

It's not too much time...it just involves more thought into having a proper setup. I know cause I've done so. The problem is people are just intimidated to even think about switching.

i've been planing it for about the past 2 months, saving money and such(no credit card debit here)

talking to vendors and shops to get charge pipe work done, turbo, bov, wastegate, boost controller ect..

**** i spent a solid 24hrs mapping compressor wheels, factoring PR, engine VE and a list of other things that factored into my pick of turbo, AR's, wheel trims

now comes the time consuming part, the actual build!(figuring about 10-20hrs for everything)..the issue is my class and work schedule prevent me from being able to spend an extended amount of time working on it at once
