Fast-slow Ss/sc

Hey guys picked up my blue SS/SC about 3 weeks ago. I love the car. But i have noticed that some times my car pulls like no other, than some days it feels like its lagging. I know that temperature affects the supercharger but even than sometimes on a cooler day i can feel it. Any ideas or advice?

My plan get my SS up to 300 hp + by this time next year and i dont think ill have the problem anymore

It also depends if you have weight in the back or not. B.c its a FWD car, its not gunna pull as hard.

No...I would worry about it. Maybe your cars have fuel system problems (eg. fuel rails/injectors plugged, defective fuel pump). I would keep on top of this issue. Also, try to buy your gas from the same gas company 'cause I know not all gas is created equally. Just my uneducated .02!!!

Yah dont buy from a different gas company just because one company's gas is cheaper...stick with the same gas company...i used to get Shell VPower but i switched and now i get Sunoco Ultra which is 94 octane..i know the car only calls for 93 but i can tell a difference with the 94...its been about 3 weeks since i switched

i noticed that too, but mine was a dummy problem. It all depended on how much pedal i was giving it. If i gave it alot, then the thing would just take off when the boost reached 10 pounds, other times it wouldn't boost so it would feel like it was lagging on me. Hope this helps.

Don't forget things such as switching on your air-conditioner can drain power from your engine as an extra belt would then be working off the motor. Variables such as that can affect performance, especially on a hot and dry day.

Outside air density has an effect too. I noticed the few days that it's jumped up to 100% humidity outside here the car just doesn't run as well, but it's not a significant difference...just seems like it lags a little bit in the more humid air.

I agree with the pedal theory. Most vehicles seem to have a so called sweet spot.

All gas IS the same, just with different additives. Its all processed at the same plants and comes out of the same pipes.

Maybe there's a uniform standard in Canada, but here in the US you can often times notice a MARKED difference between gasolines from different stations. "Discount" gas stations like RaceTrac have notoriously bad fuel. I nearly destroyed my Cavalier filling up there. The gas is watered down and caused a noticable miss in the engine. Now, if you go to the main stations like Exxon, BP, Sonoco, you really don't notice as much of a difference in performance (at least I don't). I tend to favor Sonoco or Exxon in my car, it ran well in my Cavalier and it runs well in the Cobalt. Shell gas doesn't seem to run as well, but that may just be me.

This is very untrue. The volkswagen Phaeton was pulled from production in North America because it does not take well to our grade of fuel. The fuel in europe is a much better quality. The same thing happened with the V10 Turbo diesel Toureg or however u spell it.

And lest we forget the hotwater Shell got into about 3 years ago when their gas was to blame for gas gauges not working properly with GM trucks and mini-vans, and some Caravans as well. Shell is much better now though. My experience has been that Petro-Canada has the best burning fuel, both in gas mileage and lower engine knock.

This is a 100% true comment. I worked for a MAJOR oil company for 5 years. The gas all comes from the same pipeline. There are different additives added before it is placed in the transport truck. But as far as the actual gasoline, there is no difference in the Shell on one corner and the BP sitting right next to it. The gas came from the same terminal.

Its all the same here in the US too, and the whole "watered down theory".... yeah its exactly what I just called it. Also if you like Sunoco and Exxon that means you like at least mobil too ( exxon mobil ) and i'm sure sunoco probobly has a partner in crime too

Just like Sunoco Ultra 94. Ever smell that coming off a vintage muscle car that has carbs instead of injectors. It almost smells like jet fuel...awesome!!! Hey smarc, are you coming to the Toronto meet this Sunday. Check out the home page for more details.

Yep. I also worked for a major oil company, but it was only for a year or so. Some of you are being foolish to think there is any difference. The octane level is the only thing that really matters. Everything else is just marketing and branding.
