Few Questions

Hey guys, sure these have been asked before but I don't have time to look through everything. How long does everyone go before they change their oil. Do you go by the oil life in the driver control center or 3k miles? I'm running Mobile 1 Synthetic with about 2k miles since changing and the dcc oil life still says 73% oil life yet. Everyone go by this?

Also, I'm getting a Stage 2 very soon, and plan to get the Nates 2.9 pulley. Safe to just bolt up and go or does the 2.9 need an additional tune? Just want to make sure before I go doing anything.

And with the Stage 2 and 2.9 or just Stage 2 itself, does anyone go with different plugs? If so, what brand/type should I go with? I know to stay away from bosch platinum 4's. Thanks a lot everyone!

Its synthetic oil man, changing it at 3k is just a waste IMO. They are meant for more miles then regular oil.

Actually any oil whether it is syn or conventional oil needs to be changed at 3000 miles or 5000 km. It is not the oil that breaks down but the additives in the oil. Once those additives break down then you are not getting the same advantages as new oil. I change mine at 5000 km whether it needs it or not. I can also tell my oil needs changing just by the feel of the car and the sound of the engine.

Go to the API website if you need more info (American Petroleum Institute)

cheers

synthetic can go for at least 5k, i change it mobil 1 every 6/7k or when the oil life gets down to 10%

synthetics meant for longer use

Yah, keep thinking that and at the end of the day we'll see who's engine is still running. I am a Petroleum Engineer and deal with this on a daily basis.

Like I said it is not the oil that breaks down it is the additives. That is why you can recycle oil.

uhhh sorry guys but thats a gigantic NO sythetic oil is not designed to "last longer" its designed for better engine lube and less breakdown for the ppl that think it "lasts" although once the additives are gone its pretty much useless until they put more additives in it again and clean it up

my oil still looks pretty clean at about 5,000 miles. i change it between 5-7k miles. regardless of what anyone says any more than that with synthetic is a waste of money.

Gm's engineers must be **** poor because they are going to be losing **** loads of money due to the fact that most people follow the recommended oil life meter in these cars .

I find that the recommended oil life is way to long. If I leave it that long the oil is black. It's to bad that we could not change that with HPT. I always do mine at 5000km and in summer with the higher temps 3000km and my oil is always clean.

cheers
