Finally received my goodies today!
Well, my Cometic headgasket came in and my Golden Eagle Headstuds. Both had to be direct shipped from the companies. Tomorrow evening and Saturday should be fun needless to say.
I'll keep everyone posted how good/bad a headgasket install is on the SS/SC! Hopefully no more leaks for me, so I can finally install my PB 2.8" on there!

GM and I have been going round and round on the headgasket failure. Primarily because it is the second engine in the car since the first engine had a top end failure which chunked the entire top end. I was bone stock when the first engine blew, and I was in 4th or 5th gear at 30 mph. I'm running out of time before I deploy, and I need to get the car fixed. I have no other avenues to go down, so I bought the parts to fix my headgasket leak, and I'm praying there is no other damage down below!
Does anyone have an helpful hints for the endevour I'm about to begin by the way. I know I need to check the head and block for surface flatness etc. and most likely have the head resurfaced for a proper seal.

Personally, I would think that it is time to call a lemon law lawyer....
But yeah, if the block and head are off of different engines, you might want to get them checked for flatness, but I am pretty sure that they would be dead on.

yeah that **** down sound right. Howmany miles on the new engine? Just take your time and torque everything properly!! I can't strees that enough, these engines are very touchy with that issue. Make sure you get the timing right when you put the head back on and good luck!

The block and head are from the same engine. The old engine was toasted all the way since metal filings were found in the oil pan. I would argue this point some more about getting the car fixed, but I will be out of the country in a few weeks! Anyhow, I'm following the GM buildbook step-by-step, so hopefully everything will go smoothly. I might just take some pictures for you guys too!
By the way the Cometic headgasket looks outstanding. Top notch in the quality department. The Golden Eagle HeadStuds look great too. I'll be sure to torque everthing nicely and recheck it all to include the timing. Wish me luck because my 93 S-10 is not as fun or fast as the SS is.
Well, if everything is from the same engine, than there would be no need to have anything checked out. Just make sure that everything is cleaned. And one more thing, when you use the torque wrench, stop after the first click, if you click it twice you will be over-torquing the bolts.

Good luck with the gasket and heads man . Dont sweat the warranty issue ....sure , its a added hassle , but youll appreciate the fact you did the head studs and cometic down the road . I woulda done the same thing .

hey that sounds familiar... we turned up the boost to 24 psi played with the timing and boom headgasket went, tried it again with the same results

my car is still sitting broken form like 2 months ago because of it, i figured it's still summer i'll party and worry about the car when it's too cold to do anything else this winter
I plan on getting the head resurfaced because there had to be a reson for it's failure. I think it was air pockets in the coolant system that may have caused a hot spot considering I had a collant leak for a month or so before this bigger event happened. Once again the GM delaership here neglected my leak long enough to cause a bigger problem. "Oh, it's fine. It was just low so we topped it off!"
Well, my rule is if it breaks build it better and stronger!
