Finding different sizes of belts

Just wondering where i can find belts for our car? Local parts places are carquest napa autozone and checker. Only place that could order belts was carquest but they only have 2in bigger and 9in bigger. I really need a 6" bigger belt or so to fit the second alt... Im going stage 2 and 2.9 to help and we built the alt bracket so the alt can move a bit but i dont think im going to get that 2" bigger belt to fit reguardless. any help is appriciated

dizzam, good question- what are your options for mounting the second alternator? maybe you will have to fab a bracket so the pulleys match the belt sizes...

getting the alt that low as impossible. We built the bracket so it has a bit of leaway but def not 4" and unfort i cant tell how low it will go because it hits the stock tensioner (plus i may have to shave down part of one bracket to alow the fan clearance) I'll post some pics up when i get to work

Well getting the alt re wound doesnt help much because even if they pull an act of god and get 75 amps or so then my idle power is going to go to **** and the thing is going to get hot as a **** and die sooner then later. Plus adding a 245 amp externally regulated alt and 2 Kinetik hc16v batts (along with the stock 105amp and my carquest ngt extreme yellowtop equivilant) is going to do me much better then a just a 180 (if that) amp alt and 2 12v batts

oh ya for all you preformance guys that are freaking out about me loosing power ect we calculated the alt will have a max strain of 5hp on the engine and im pretty sure the extra weight im adding for the system is going to hurt more then the alt.

So any ideas belt wise? I really dont want to try this out and be just barely off

The dual rib belt (ribs on each side of the belt) are only made for certain requested sizes, the requestor has to pay to make a certain number of belts. That is why there is limited production of these belts. Pulleyboys made a belt tensioner with 3 settings on them stock, 3.0, and 2.8 you might want to check and see if this might work with one of the belt sizes you are trying to work with...

well not really... its a sorta odd configuration were going for here

also i had a feeling the reason for the shortage of belts was the dual ribed part but theres gotta be something else out there

Would be interested in pics. Man i remember them days now i dont have time to do nothing regarding my stereo systems anymore, i just got rid of my extreme van :-(. I hadnt got my term lab meter back working so i dont know where im at now but i have just through everything in. Have you looked into Stetsom amps?
They put out alot with alot less current draw. I plan to run two 7kd's and im still running T3 subs.
