fluid in heat exchanger

ok so i have the "smaller" heat exchanger from cxracing. I live in reston VA which is right near washington DC and go to school at virginia tech (blacksburg). my point to telling you guys that is because the temp doesnt really ever go below 30 degrees. So, i was wondering what should i put in my heat exchanger?
1. A bottle of water wetter and the rest just 50/50 coolant mix.
2. Water and a bottle of HEET? (i have no idea how to use heet meaning i dunno if you can use more than one bottle mixed with the water or what).

DO NOT PUT HEET IN IT!

Use either a 50/50 mix of water and dexcool or depending on your climate straight distilled water but only for the summer months!

The stock fluid is a 50/50 water/dexcool.... dexcool doesn't remove heat from the intake charge however water transfers heat very well....

So if you add more distilled water and less coolant will be more ideal I prolly did a 70 water 30 dexcool mixture in mine!

royal purple purple ice or dei intercooler chiller is way better than water wetter, i used water wetter and my system foamed up then i called redline and asked emm if there water wetter had a anti foaming agent and they said no... the other two i mentioned do...

I run 75/25 distilled water/dexcool with a bottle of purple ice. Works really well. But I'm in Florida where it never gets cold.

this would only be ideal for the summer, correct? like the op said where he is it never goes below 30degrees.

if for other people the temps drop real low wouldn't it be better to have more dex cool and not water in the system?

i went with a 50/50 mix and then 3/4 bottle of water wetter. You will be fine. I had not problems last winter. I also run some water wetter through the radiator coolant as well.

If it drops below 32* (F) and don't want to keep changing your fluid a 50/50 mixture is a better direction.

I am going to do distilled water and watter wetter here because well frankly it's hot as ****, and doesn't get cool at all untill January!

I am so jelous of you warm weather people. Another 2 months and us northeners will see 32dg or colder...right now its 86dg. Enjoy that extra cooling.

You want to stay with at least 20% Dexcool or add some hot weather coolant addative. It contains chemicals to retard growths in your water and help protect your seals and avoid metal corrosion.

well since you asked so nicely i do care to answer... well you could get away with as low as 15% dexcool but that put you right at 20* protection nothing less so i would go 25% which gives you protection to 10*

^^^
I personallly tend to not go below 25% Dexcool. It will give you nearly a 50% increase in heat capacity capability (not a 50% increase in cooling performance) and with some purple ice you'll get a nice little addtional boost. I would avoid water wetter since it does not have an antifoaming agent.

i already posted that in this thread (post #9)... he was asking a simple question in which i answered correctly. but yes i also do not reccomend less than 25% because the pump uses the dexcool as lubrication and anti corosion, which i belive you already posted

Coolant additives like purple ice and water wetter provide more cooling as the % of water in the system goes up correct?

additives like that help break the surface tension of water which increase heat transfer capabilities...

search my friend...

yes the more water the better when were talking about the supercharger system because it never reaches boiling temp's and water tranfers heat better by its self then with antifreeze...

its somewhat complicated and im not willing to explain everything if you google you should be able to find out alot

years of being in the garage with pops and my entire mechanical career is where i have picked up this general knowledge...

but in the engine coolant system antifreeze also acts as a boiling protection it raises the boiling point of the fluid so does pressure...
