a/fr guages

why exactly is a wideband better than a normal a/f guage. i now have stg2 and i need to monitor my a/f and i dont want to spend the $ for a wideband if i dont have to. im gonna buy an interceptor for sure but i just wanted to get more information before i go spending loot that i may or may not need to spend. thanks in advance guys/gals

Ok basically .. a wideband comes with its own o2 sensor and the information it displays to you is pretty much flawless, and the other gauges you buy(narrowbands) .. ehh .. well they are pretty much just LED light shows becuase so many things can interfere with their readings and plus they only catch a voltage signal coming from the factory o2 sensor and it then tries to display what it thinks its reading, and the stoich or as some ppl understand "normal" isnt exactly what our cars should be displaying, someone correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure stoich on those narrowband gauges is like 14.7 or sumthin and WOT on our cars should be mid 11s .. hope that clears up some of it for you

You really probably dont need an AFR gauge yet with your mods... It'd be cool to have though, and you'd be ready for mods in the future that might mess with your AFR

Can't you just buy a seperate sensor and use the interceptor analog connector to display the a/f? That would save a good bit of money assuming it worked. They (Aeroforce) said it would, but I have never tried; I got a seperate gauge myself though.

lol Im thinking the same thing. I dont really need one yet but I will in the future. I want one know cos they look cool plus its interested to learn about. Is there a pod or something i can make it so the gauge is on the right of the steering wheel, kinda like the SRT4 boost guage

No you have to have the controller in most cases the gauge and then you can send the signal to the interceptor, I wanted to do this also but found out different.....

actually 14.7 is but on a forced induction the air is compressed and the magic number is lower
