Are you using your heater? It chugs gas during the winter with the heater on

Colder weather = denser air

more air = more fuel to compensate

AC will hurt your milleage a little bit

You don't have to. How else will you learn? Check your tires, air filter, fuel filter etc. All contribute. Winter is HELL on mpg under typical driving conditions. That's a fact.

HAHA. I learned over the years that the truths of my father's day, aren't the same truths of my day.

That is very true. Luckly, I do all of my own work on my car. And sit on this site all damn night and research. Plus. I won't let him anywhere near my supercharger. He like to work on stuff like he knows it, then it ends up being more work in the end

I can relate to that. lol. My dad would rather break it more trying to fix it, than open a book and learn ahead of time what to expect. Its funny and sad at the same time.

But won't running the defrost affect milage? Just like the AC will since it's using the compresser? I guess that makes sense now. Since I always have it on defrost and floor. So I was kinda right.

With the heater on, your condenser is being used to draw any moisture out of the air to be blown on the windshield. To use the condenser, you need to run the compressor. That places a great load on the engine, granted on AC the condenser runs a LOT more.

the newer ac systems shouldent cut but 1 to 2 mpg as long as it is funtioning correctly and not worn out but cold climate will hurt you fuel economy worse then the ac system will

OK. But it does cut down. My MPG drop about 2-4 mpg. All machines are different however. Maybe he has a mechanical issue- with the condenser.

the condenser wont hurt mpg unless it is plug from metal debris from the compressor which would mean his compressor has gone to **** the newer systems realy dont afect mpg much if at all the truck i owned got better fuel economy with the ac turned on
