Good info there. Most of the same aplies to SC motors as well. If your new to boost this is a must read.
I usualy run 89 in my car. But the dealer told me that it only needs 87 when I bout the car.

Nice. Good read. Do you agree with it? Just wondering cause I have no real background to compare it too.

my personal oppinion says MORE OCTANE = BETTER PERIOD. maybe not if you where pushing 120 octain, but the higher North you go from 87 the better off you are. I run Mobil 93 usually. If 94 sunoco was available I would be pumping that. Someone needs to dyno their cars with 87 in and then with 93 or 94 in. Then someone needs to have 94 and throw a bottle of octane boost in, so we can see the difference.

i have mainly used the shell vpower and felt that when i have used other fules it has not run as well. I always try to stick with 93 and well known names like mobil shell sunoco bp etc. it has paid off. my opinion is if you use at least the mid grade tho your car will not have any problems. my mom has a 02 z28 and uses 89 octance and has absolutley no problems with 15k on it.

If your car is stock, 87-89is ok BUTTTTT, if you modify, you MUST run highest octane available, period! I may run 110 come this summer with a 2.6 pulley

Not necessarily true, there are 500+ hp engines that will run on 87 octane.

This past summer I ran a mix with 93 octane and 100 octane. I don't remember how many gallons of each I put in.. I think I put in 5 gal of 100 octane and then filled the car up with 93... I noticed an INSTANT change with the engine and how it accelerated and the throttle response was very touchy.. The car was very rev happy. But I heard running 100 octane or higher all the time could ruin the fuel injectors. Is that possible? If so, when larger fuel injectors are installed are they able to handle the higher octane most of the time?

The higher octane makes sense to yield more hp, for example with an SRT-4 Stage 3 "with regular 93 octane pump gasoline, the car puts out 310 hp and 325 lb-ft at the crankshaft, by no means old-lady numbers. Pump in 100 octane unleaded, and you'd better hold on to your potatoes as the engine pushes 355 hp and 365 lb-ft to the crank."

Octane booster when used with 94 octane fules has almost no afect at all. you get mabe 'MABE" 1 octane out of it. Now with 87 you can get like 3 but thats it. I run mostly 89 and have no problens and more power then I can put to the ground. (Wheel hop) so runing any higher then that on a stock car makes no sens to me at all. Now a moded car is another story. It should have 91 or better after you get it up to about 240Hp or more.

Also for the ones that dont know, Octane rating is the fuels resistence to detonation. The higher the octane the more resistent the fuel is to detonation. However the higher the octane the harder the fuel is to burn. And the cooler the fuel burns. There is alot more to it then that but thats the basecs of it.
