G85 limited slip differential

This is for you all that have this option with the SS SC with the G85 diff. I haven't noticed the differential functioning except when I accelerate hard around corners. Makes a loud groaning/winding noise (unless that's something else). I can tell when I'm on a slippery surface and one of the wheels is spinning more than enough where I would think the diff would kick in. Is this "operating as intended" or is there something wrong? Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't the diff be limiting my slip on sand, snow, etc and also at launch?

I never really felt the LSD kick in on slippery surfaces, i think dry surfaces are where it really works well though. I can definitely feel it around the corners especially pushing high speed, (it steps out a bit making me have to cut into the corner more actually). Also, i slips less in first from when i had the non-g85 trans on dry pavement. Before, when it hit 4 grand or so it would really start spinning, but now it sticks much better.

It may not be great but at least it's something, and it's sure as hell worth the money for just itself not including the recaros which make it even more of a amazing deal from the factory.

I got stuck in the snow this last winter and both wheels were always spinning. I would not have got out myself if it was a single spin. Also on dry pavement it seems to always lay rubber with both wheels. I suppose you could put one wheel in the grass and the other on pavement and burnout to see it they both spin

So is it possible to increase the slip limiting on the stock diff?

My RL is comp packaged, and my diff doesnt react like yours at all. If yours is trully "split" like that, toss it in first and punch the gas. You should go straight. I think thats an adequate way of testing????? I only feel my Diff when i punch it or take a tight turn.

Really? What makes you say that?? Most people consider the Torsen designed, Quaife manufactured LSD units used in the Cobalt SS/SC and Saturn Redline to be one of the best all-round and durable limited slip differentials EVER!
Dont lump it till ya try it!! (aka have some more sour grapes)
