In as few words as possible:

ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY.

j/k

First of all I've been in an 05 non G85 and an 06 w/ G85.

To answer your question:

Yes, because the recaros are MUCH more comfortable than the stock seats, and the LSD provides better traction overall but mostly on curves. I cant say I really felt the LSD in action, but the seats are more than enough to make me want the package.

Depends on what you are going to do with the car. I think it is worth it, but the car ends up being more than 1500 in the long run.

If your gonna do some road courses, or auto-x then its definately worth it.

Oh boy! I see a big debate over this one comming. In my opinion it's not worth it. Go without it and get the 2-tone seats. GM's limited slip is wack. Here come the flames!

I think the G85 package is well worth the money. The LSD alone costs about $1500 and that doesn't include install.

Get it! The center part of the recaros are mesh or something thing like that, its way more comfortable and here in AZ during the summer you can accually sit in the seat without 3rd degree burns The LSD helps with traction a little bit at the drag strip but going around corners under power like on a whindy road LSD makes a world of difference. When you just go cruising around twisty turnies the LSD just gives you the confidence of "I know I can go around this corner at 50 even though the sign says 10"
Bottom Line Get it!!!

Don't listen to these Get It guys. Don't get the G85. If you don't get it you will have a 2-toned interior, not just seats but doord as well. If you get the G85 with the recaros you entire interior is black. Everything except the silver. Everything. That doesn't look good and you're paying for it. How can people say a solid black single color interior looks better than a 2-tone interior from the factory. Don't get it. Read about the GM lsd. The pros say it's wack.

It depends on the color for me when it comes to the two tone. For instance, I think the yellow two tone is ugly, but the red and blue ones look good. And if your getting an orange or silver car, your interior is going to be back anyhow, so might as well get the recaros.

And again, what do you want to do with your car. If this is just going to be a fun daily driver, LSD doesnt matter. If you are going to race with auto-x or something like I said, you will regret not getting the LSD.

You can order an all-black interior without G85!

It is a preference. Besides, the Recaros have grey inserts. I personally don't like the non-G8 colored inserts. I also don't like a 205 HP /200 tq car with no LSD and Pirelli tires.

The Recaros look way better than the stock seats anyhow. They are also way more comfortable.

I love mine, its not a night and day difference. You notice it in turns and on loose footing. Straight lines not so much, but there is a difference. And what pros are saying its wack? Oh and my black SS with recaros is all black inside. You can get your dealer to custom order you a red car with all black inside as well. You just have to make them do it. And my dad who has 3 slipped vertebrea (however you spell that) loves the seats.

For me the 2 tone would be too much like having a clown mobile. Which "pros" say the GM LSD is wack ???

The G85 package for the SS/SC isn't too bad as far as the LSD is concerned. Most people who complain about GM's LSD choices are for the trucks such as mine which falls under the G80 package. The "HD locking rear differential" isn't strong enough to handle the torque from the motor(s), hence torque management on the trucks is ridiculous to help make the "parts" last longer. I'm not sure who makes the differential for the Silverado...but I know some people have had it less than 2k miles and it's gone out on them. But it's okay, cuz a high-quality eaton differential is only a few hundred bucks for us...vs. $1k + for the non G85 Cobalt.

And with that being said...if you have the option to get the G85 package then do it. It's worth it IMO simply because it opens the doors to much more than just drag racing.

Hey, it's all down to what you want. If you want better handling-performance and better bolstered seats...G85 is for you. If you are stuck on loving the "two-tone" go for it. Personally I think the recaros are a large improvement in terms of comfort, looks, and side-bolstering. It comes down to what you want. Sit in both interiors if you can.

I didn't want to have to explain to myself why I bought a "sports-car" without a LSD. IF you're gonna do it, do it right - IMO.

Personally, G85 looks sweet in my black car.

Good luck deciding.

G85 all the way, LSD, get it, power to both wheel is what you want, not a one tire fryer...defenetly helps in turns.

also always wondered why people ask opinions regarding colors and such...no one will ever agree!...pick the option you like the most and feel the most comfy in...for the LSD well I believe you can't order it by itself

Now for the LSD, and that isn't even an opinion rather pure engineering/driving facts, you can't go wrong with it... so if you have 1500 to throw at it I'd say go for it

Exactly, which is why people shouldn't worry about the LSD equipped Cobalt SS/SC. I don't think GM out-sources the differential for the Silverado however...although I'm not 100% sure on that.

Hmmm , the quaife diffs a pretty highly regarded and are pretty bulletproof

I really goofed and didnt get it , grrrrr . Now Im backtracking . I have the SS recaro's , now I just have to find a low miles G85 trans .

The cheapness of the stock leather is worth getting the G85 alone . My stock seats had wrinkles after only 2 months on the road .

My thoughts exactly. I passed on the G85, since I won't be auto-xing or anything of the sort. Traction is fine in a straight line. I have yet to take it to the strip, but I've had no trouble leaving streaks of rubber with both tires while having a little fun.

I got a black car and I looked at all of the 2 tone options and in the end chose black on black anyways. so clean looking. and will not fade to pink, light blue or urine yellow in a couple years.
