gas 91 or 93?
gas 91 or 93?
The manual says 91 and above but is there really a huge difference between premium and super or w.e the octane ratings are? Id like to ave as much as I can and Ive actually been putting in regular for quite some time...
octane is resistance to detonation. dont put regular in your car, only for emergencies if anything. besides you are now on your low octane spark tables and losing out on quite a bit of power. run the premium
yeah the money ur going to put into geting prem. over regular is totaly worth it... i beleave its harder on ur car and it works harder to run on regular... it remaps and re charts i beleave so u dont get knock but i would think that this is alot harder on the car than just running 93... the diffrence is only 2.00 or so on a full fill up...
Ive been doing it for almost 3 years cause the dealer said it was fine and I never though anything of it....doh. Can I switch over will it cause problems? Which rating should I run??

I'd say that's a drip in the pond compared to what you paid for a performance car. Definitely worth switching to 91 or better to get all those ponies you paid for, and to make your car happy.
Actually, it's a lot like taking a girlfriend out for dinner. You can't just feed her mcdonalds all the time because it's cheap, she'll get fat and slow. Take her out for some super premium sometime and she'll pay you back.

91 will be fine, that's what it's designed to run on. I use 94 just because I like to **** money away on my car, and I get 4x the Sunoco points compared to other octanes.
Switching will be fine... The first time you top off your tank with premium you're essentially going to be mixing the grades to create 89(ish) octane, so it wont be a drastic change for your car. Not that it matters anyways, the computer will adjust everything on the fly.

nope your car will run on the high octane spark table if it recognizes your on 91 and above. yes it will be fine when you switch back. let it run down to a little less than an 1/8th of a tank and fill up with 91. then after you go home, disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for 30 minutes. this will reset all your Fuel Trims so the car will "re-learn" its habits

I thought we had to use 93 from the start?
Or maybe 93 and up is for stage 2's.
Anyway, on my trip to MN i stopped twice for gas and one time was 92 and the other was 91, and I was like "WTF... no 93 octane?" I didnt want to put in anything under 93 but then again, my tank was empty.

93 Octane is actually recommended after you do Stage II. You can get by on 91 and the only issue you'll have with it is if you live somewhere cold in the winter. 91 is not normally enough octane when it's really cold out.
