Stay out of boost. The ss/sc does not eat gas unless you want it to, otherwise you could average higher than 28mpg depending on how much city/highway driving you do.

I didn't say to keep it out of boost at all times or else; I just said to keep it out of boost as much as possible.

Im at 30.6 MPG as a daily driver and racer on the weekends. I have never reset the MPG since I bought the car. I think its pretty sick that im getting better MPG with my 2.0 then my 2.2. I noticed a huge increase in MPG once I removed the stock muffler and put a Magnaflow Street exhaust on, probly went up a good 3-4 MPG.

later

If you will do the math you will see that the DIC is way off. Most people see 3-4mpg less. Mine says 34.3 right now but I'm really getting 29.9.

If you never reset it, it can be off by quite a bit like you said, but if it's reset when you get gas it's pretty damn close. I always reset mine when I fill up and calculate it manually, it's usually under .5 mpg different. Just my experience

I can see a significant difference when I drive fast or when I drive sanely. I can go between 23 and 28 MPG (28 being on the high end, I usually average about 26)

With the mods I have and shifting at 3,000-3,500 (clutch likes that better), I have gotten 32.5 by hand, not DIC. I hardly ever get under 30 and I get on it atlease once pretty hard a tank. I do baby it I will admit that but to get the same gas milage as my '98 z24 and literally twice the whp, probably more than twice , is just awesome. Keep the boost gauge under 10 vaccuum and you will get 32 mpg I promise. Seems about 12.5 vaccum is the sweet spot.

Stage 2 actually improves gas mileage. Don't know why, but every who has installed it has reported mileage going up. Exhaust also increases gas mileage. Other than those two things, as everyone else said, it all comes down to your right foot.

stage 2 increases gas milage because it changes the air/fuel mix adding more air, witch makes hotter explosions, witch makes more horsepower. and of course when you add air you subtract fuel, hence better mpg.

Guess that explains why people go from Stage 2 to the 60# injectors and make even better gas mileage.
