Gas. wtf.
Gas. wtf.
I dont know what the hell is wrong with my car. Gas millage is HORRIBLE. It says im getting 25.something miles. Yeah right. I fill up, use top of the line gas, even tryed gas saver crap. Of course it got a lil worse when I got the cai put on..and thats supposed to SAVE gas.. Anyone have any clue why its so bad? I shift at like 3 everytime. Right after I filled it up today it took 9miles, and I was off full.
Makes no sense.

If you're driving mostly city 25 makes perfect sense. Both the SS/SC and SS/TC suck gas in city driving like a fat girl sucks a milkshake... At least compared to other 4-cyl cars. It's the price we pay for forced induction. I'd imagine the SS/SC is worse, since you get boost no matter what... Feather-footed driving in the SS/TC can prevent the snail from spooling.
There's some days I'm lucky to see 20 with mine, according to the computer. It happens. While these cars are capable of good highway numbers, they weren't exactly designed for fuel-efficient city driving...
wow. Id say 13-15.
My gf has a eclipse. gtv6. (16city) I dont think the tanks are tht much bigger on them.
She gets WAY better city AND highway.

You have a small gas tank so the needle will move faster than you would like it to. Imagine if your gas tank was one gallon. You will fill it up and the needle would be on full, drive 11 miles to work and the needle would be on half. Drive home from work, you would be near empty, assuming about 25mpg.
It's psychological, don't look at the gas gauge so often and let it bother you. The needle drops more slowly from full, and then more rapidly when nearing empty.
What kind of driving are you doing? If you drive in the inner city then 25mpg is great, if you do all highway driving then it may be a little low and you could improve. Read posts in the hypermiling section to learn how you can change your driving habits to achieve higher fuel efficiency.
Wow, a lot of posts were made while I wrote mine. Sorry, I went back and read them. If you are getting 13-15 mpg and are calculating it properly, then one of three things is happening. Poor driving habits for fuel economy, something wrong with car, or both.

You need to calculate how many gallons you fill up and compare to how many miles you went.
I reset my trip OD when I fill up and then when I get gas again, I calculate how much I put in and how many miles I went. That will accurately tell you what you are getting.

I had used over half a tank and I was at like 135miles.
Doing the math.
135 plus 135 is 270. (and i said a lilttle OVER a half)
If i was getting 25mpg It would be like 325 a tank.
If all my math is right.
Aren't you supposed to fill to full, reset odometer, drive around, refill to full, and use the gallons on the pump to calculate mpg? If you use 270 miles on one tank, and the tank is 13 gallons I think, that works out to just under 21 mpg.
And if you just got new headlights, what are you doing with the old ones?

meaning not 25.
The new headlights get put on tuesday, Im not sure what Im gonna do with the stock ones yet. Either hold on to them incase I get a ticket for my new ones, or clean em up and sell them.
And Im gonna see how I like these new ones, and If I like them, i'll sell the others.
I'll PM you tues, or weds.
Becouse when I think about it, I need some moneys, about to be moving in wit my gf.
lol good luck with moving in with the gf. It's a pain in the a$$ that's for sure. Anyways, where do you live, like what state? I am reading a lot of your threads and you seem like your pretty new to all of "this". Either way, your car could benefit greatly from a tune and I am a tuner so let me know where you live lol I might be able to help you out.

Example. Car has 5,058 miles on it, fill the tank to full with 9.456 gallons. At 5,386 miles fill tank to full with 11.666 gallons. 5,386-5,058 and divide that by 11.666 gallons = 28.116
The answer 28 MPG. You have to keep a record of your mileage at every fill and fill the tank to full, and also record the quantity.
QFT.

He's from Canuckistan. That's like $72/gal or something with conversion rates.
You are never going to use the entire 13 gallons unless you ran out of gas. The light typically comes on at 11.5 gallons, so most people fill up at about 12 gallons used. if you had gone 270 miles on 12 gallons that would be 22.5 MPG. For all city driving that isn't all that bad.

Is your engine running smoothly OP?
