Gauge Cluster Problems????

Ok, for the past month my gauge cluster has been acting up doing weird things, at first it would flash all the service lights (except engine) and then all the gauges would go to zero this would last for about 5 min and then return to normal, this has happened a few times in the past 2 months, but now almost every morning when i get in the car to go to work the gauges are not working at all, they are lite up just not functioning, after about 5 min of driving the gauges start to work again???? the car runs & drives as normal,
has anyone here had this problem before?? I dont think its a battery problem because the car starts fine even though its like 5 deg out side, the radio works fine, do you guys think the cluster is going bad?

This is going to sound absolutely crazy but just for the hell of it I want you to try it. I once had a problem with the fuse box in the engine bay basically not making full contact. So go out there and push the fuse box in the engine down, use a good amount of force it wont hurt anything. If this is your problem it would explain everything .

I had the issue because I was doing a lot of electrical work and putting in relays and fuses etc, and the shop was. Between the two of us somebody must not have gotten the fuse box all the way down to make contact with that metal part down there. All I know is when i pushed the bad boy down, it clicked into place and then all was good. My lights worked, my car didn't randomly shut down if I hit a hard bump etc lol.

Hope this helps bro.

you need to see if the ipc or any other modules(bcm, radio, ecm, ect.) are setting dtc's. It sounds like the ipc is losing cummunication with the data buss. Check for codes first, then go from there.

Will codes show up even though there is no service engine light on? is this done with a hand held scanner like they use at autozone to check service engine codes?

yes, there can be codes set without the service engine light on! You will need a more advance scanner that is capable of reading codes from the ipc, bcm ect.... I don't think the autozone scanner will do that.
thanks

Could be a bad ground somewhere. Something similar to this happened to me on my old car when I did a battery swap. Turned out to just be a bad ground.
