gauge connections ?

I'm planning on adding an oil pressure gauge and water temp gauge pretty soon.
Need to know if an electric or mechanical gauge would be best. I'd prefer an electric.

Also, where would I connect them to the engine. Is it possible to tap into the sending unit for the existing water temp display. How 'bout the oil pressure? is there somewhere on the block to install the sending unit.

lastly, what are the advantages of the wide band gauge. I understand the desire to monitor a/f ratio. But is it really needed on an otherwise stock engine?

thanks for any info!!!!!
