GM performance vs touring
GM performance vs touring
I tried a search but only found something in the 2.4 section. I wanted to try in this section .
1) People with the performance GMPP exhaust, when traveling at high speeds like the freeway is the performance exhaust too loud inside the cab of the car or annoying .
2) when putting on the tip for the exhaust that is not included did you weld it on or put it on by an exhaust clamp?
Thanks

1. I don't find the exhaust sound to be too loud and its definatly annoying in my opinion.
2. Mine is on with a clamp and have yet to have any issues with it.
All in all, I love the GMPP Performace/Sport exhaust system. Great sounds and tone, plus its a great price.

i just put the sport exhaust on. I absolutely love it. The car sounds gorgeous every time you start it up. At idle, it purrs fairly deep and steady. When accelerating at low rpms, the exhaust note is very deep and throaty. At WOT, the sport exhaust just screams like a bat out of hell...and it sounds NICE. Cruising at highway speeds isn't annoying at all. Between the noise and vibration of the tires and road, the exhaust isn't bad at all...even cruising at like 80. Dont get me wrong...it's more noticeable than stock, but not too overdone. I just got new subs...but most of the time when it's warmer outside i drive around with my windows open just so i can hear my exhaust...it sounds THAT good. I highly recommend it.
1. The exhaust is loud and everybody can hear it
but I don't find it annoying, it just has a deep hum to it. You can hear it in the cab but it's not too loud. If I turn the radio up a couple notches (not blasting, just at a comfort level), you can't hear the exhaust in the car.
2. Mines just clamped on, no welds, and it seems to being doing fine.

It's all looks for the most part. if your car is a light color and your exhaust exits before clearing the bumper, your going to get black soot on your car. but other than that, its just a nice looking piece.

The gmpp sport exhaust is awesome and i have never heard anyone disagree.
My dealership forgot to order the exhaust tip, and i had to ride around with no tip and it SUCKED because not only did it look terrible, but it sounded louder and a little ricy. I had to go buy a cheap 20$ tip at advanced auto and it still looked/sounded terrible.
The GMPP exhaust tips are definatetly worth the 60 or so bucks. They take about 5 minutes to put on too.

Boy it sounds like the sport is the way to go and that the touring is a waste of money. Anyone have the touring out there. Are yuo happy with it do you wish you would have gotten the sport. I heard some guy on here say that he wanted to sell his sport GMPP because it was too loud in the cab.
I was thinking I was going to get the touring, but the difference in price, along with all the good stuff I hear about the sport is hard to argue with.
I'll be getting the sport here in the next month or so (Then when the tax man comes to give me my money back, I'll be going stage2 + intake
)

I just upgraded my system from Pacesetter to the GMPP performance on the 2.2, must say a noticeable difference in performance, and the sound and look of it is absolutely awesome. Definetely a lil different sound than the clips from the 2.0 but it is definetely worth it especially at the price it is at!
crateenginedepot.com has a clip of a comparison of all three clips, stock, touring and sport
Just go to crateenginedepot.com and go to Cobalt Performance Parts, then Exhaust and look at either one of the GMPP exhausts and theres a link there for it.

Well everyone has already posted pretty much what I was going to say.
Nice deep tone, not ricey-sounding at all. Looks great and one of the cheaper, yet really good exhausts out there.
I just recently changed my CAI over to SRI and it was definately louder from the switch. Can't wiat for H/DP w/Cat next spring.
The guy used clamps as he said welding stainless steel would be bad?!?!
Anyways it's a good purchase!

Without the tip, it was significantly louder and a little more "raunchy". Its kind of hard to explain but overall it just sounded less refined without a the GM tip.
