My Dealership talked to several different people today that have the authority on warranty.
Quote for an induvidual at GM Performance," With the stage 1 and stage 2 performance upgrades, your FACTORY WARRANTY WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT! Neither stage kit will void your warranty, there is a Case # on this, so if any dealership questions the warranty there is proof from GM that the warranty is good. Now, this does not give you the right to beat the hell out of it and expect them to fix it. It is simply stating your warranty is as it is now.

That sucks and I am sorry to hear that. My parts and service guys have been great, they have my stage 2 in already and the service manager's eyes light up when I tell him what I want to do with the car.

I just ordered Stage 1 as well, from crateenginedepot.com It was either Stage 2 and no exhaust or Stage 1 and buy exhaust in begining of summer. Even if you get Stage 2 for $650 it will likely run you near $800 total due to install costs. But if you got the flow, its the way to go I just wanted some more rip outta the exhaust.

2 Hours tops for stage II. Stage one should be less. If it is their first time installing one, maybe 2.5 hrs. 3 sounds a bit excessive.

I dunno about this guys. I'm no expert, but I believe the gm techs are put on a tight schedule as far as any work at dealerships. Oh and another thing, even if the gm tech takes another half hour or an hour to do something, he/she doesn't see any of that money, so them putzing around doesn't make them any more money.

Only for the dealership.

wouldn't the labor be based on a flat rate time? it's a GM kit so GM should know how long it should take their techs to install it.

It's called flat rate. A labor time is assigned to just about every job on a car regardless of how long it actually takes. You can either agree to the price or go somewhere else. This way, the tech knows what he's getting paid and in most cases, it's enough time to do the job right. The customer also knows how much they are paying up front. The flat rate system is no different than a contractor giving you a price to renovate your house but yet we see nobody standing around with a stopwatch then do we?
