GM Stage 1 Question...
I just ordered the injector kit and my good friend tells me that I can self install and drive it to the dealer to get the tune. It is two miles city/highway, then about 15-20 miles highway.
I have read that they can go static, he said otherwise, just maybe really rich.

did you purchase the stage kit thru GM.. if so let them do it it will be the only way to keep your full warranty... and i would not recommend driving with like that. and if you did not buy the kit thru them good luck getting them to tune it... the only way i have found out to have them do it is to buy the kit... there is a access code they must put in the tech II before it will allow the reflash.(tried this at my local dealer)

I did my stage 2 myself and drove it for 2 weeks without a tune then brought it in to get flashed and i still got my warranty. Just bring the vci number in that is on the installation sheet.

Shaffer, whats up?
If he bought the kit through gm and it is the stage one kit he should be ok.
Check with your service department and OK it if you install your own injectors. Driving it sensibly you can make it to the dealer.

i have a friend that works at gm and he tried to get one but the vci is actually tied in with your vin number. I bought the intense 43lb and a pulley thinking i could just get a reflash and that didnt work out so i had to buy the gm kit and sell the injectors and pulley.

You shouldn't... but... 'probably can' drive it to the dealer, however, the entire 15-20 miles will not be good....overdose on fuel, and the ecu has no idea what you're doing...dont even go into boost...a tuned car is so sick, a hacked car is...yeah...hacked...but do what you will...

I run the stage 2 belt with a 2.8 no problems... fwiw.
honestly, i would say drive it to dealership, then change in parking lot... It doesnt take very long....
maybe go across the street? Its what i would do just to be uber safe.

You mean just go near the dealership and install it? I have thought of that.. we have a Vo-Tech school down the street, if I could find a friend that goes I could do it there, automotive section...

Its the easiest thing.. obviously just bring the tools..
you dont need a mechanic to do this... its unscrewing something, taking another thing out, put something else in, give it power, screw it back in.
