GM Stage 3 Pulley Install = Success

Well I just got done installing the GM stage 3 pulley onto my stage 2 setup. I am just heading out to see how it runs. It is pretty warm outside so I am sure it will not be up to full boost completely. The other night it was warm out my stage 2 pulley wasn't even pulling 15 psi. Hopefully a little torque and hp was gained.

Well it definitely boosts quicker. I didn't really get on it too hard but it did touch 15 psi. The warm weather definitely effects it. On a nice cool night I will find out what it can boost. I actually got it on ebay, the guy that was selling it is a member on here. I got it for 82 shipped and CED wanted 114. I even called the GM dealer, I can get it for list price, and they wouldn't sell it to me for under 115.

Install was pretty simple. The hardest part was getting the damn bolts off. They were pretty tight. DO NOT take the belt off first or you will never hold the pulley and get the bolts off. I actually put the car in gear and just kept pulling on them till the tranny held it then I loosened them up. I think I answered all the questions you asked.

I know, whoever did the stage 2 install on it def. put them on too tight. People have said they could be put on tight and some even ruined the bolts getting them off they were that tight. I just used a oil filter band wrench to grab it and tighten them.

I am not using the stock plugs. I have the one stage NGK's.

It helps having two people to tell you the truth. Me and my dad did it. He pushed on the tensioner with a 15mm and I put the belt back up on. People said before it was a bitch, but it really wasn't that bad. The belt is tight, but not where you can't get it. It was kinda tough to get the belt in the right grooves on the bottom pulley, but that was it really. 15 min job honestly, if that.

searching for empty stall now in shop I'm anxious to get mine on. But, I have only stock plugs for now. Most says one step colder helps out so that's a near future addon.

It was weird with the plugs. Basically soon as I joined the site I was reading a stage 2 should run the 1 step colder plugs. So I got the NGK's and gapped them at what everyone was saying, 0.040. They made my car buck pretty good every now and then. I would shift and it would just bog down, hesitate, just sputter. So I put the stockers back in, but I notice my stock plugs were tighter than 0.040, about 0.037ish. So I ran them for a while and soon as it got warm out I went back to the NGKs again to see if they would work at a 0.037 gap. Well that must have been the trick, because they work fine now.

I have no idea. I know you would see more boost, which, like you said, is obvious. This pulley is a 76mm which is 2.99". The pulley was actually pretty heavy too. I thought it would have been a lot lighter than it was for how small it is.

Now I feel bad. I am sorry, honestly. But I always do that when I bid. That way you can't jump in. You def. would have got it for like 45 bucks too. I had to jump to like 80 to get ya. I was wondering if anyone on the site was the one who was bidding on it. Like I said earlier, I do like to buy stuff new, especially for my car. I just can't see myself spending 115 for a damn pulley. Again, I apologize.

His user name is NHERBST454... look it up! I just checked, and he sold me my last for 55 + shipping (8$ USPS to canada) so prob less within the states. However I have been buying a few off of him. So maybe like 60 at the most for you, prob 55 like me man. Hes a good guys and makes a good product. I wouldnt refer to him if his product wasnt awesome.

Tell me about it. I hate going out to race in weather like this, but we have this nasty weather for 11 months of the year, so i'm SOL. Got in some good runs tonight though, two turbo 240SX's and one SRT4, all kills. Just sucks having 98% humidity and 85 degree temps at night.

Just get a 2.8 or 2.85. A 2.99 isn't going to do that much more than regular stage 2

^^^ what he said. Go 2.8, 2.85 or 2.90 at minimum 2.99 wont help the mid-range as much.

Brian,I am glad you go the pulley on with out a problem. If you want to inexpensive ways to keep you under hood temps down you can take the hood insulator off. Also I wrapped my upper radiator hose where if goes across the supercharger snout.

Oh yeah If any one eles is interested I have a Light weight pulley also for sale on Ebay right now.

Does installing the stage 3 pulley and not the stage 3 PCM void ones warranty? Also, does it still run well on the stage 2 flash from the dealership?
