I do not see why not. I was told the stage 3 pcm when it is not in 100 octane mode uses the same tune as the stage 2 does. Even if something would come up to where I would have to take it in, I will probably just throw back on the stage 2 pulley. That way I am sure I will be ok.

For cooling, I would like to get the dual-pass endplate with the extra coolant tank over the summer. They say you shouldn't run the stage 3 pulley without the endplate to begin with. I'm not sure if I will look into getting another heat exchanger or a better one or not.

Let me know when you are ready for a dual-pass endplate and i'll hook you up.

You have one for sale or some way you can get them pretty cheap? I just want to know what exactly I need to do the option-b with the extra tank. I know the endplate, obviously, and another tank, but like fittings and tubing is what I am unsure of. I would just like to know exactly what I need and about how much it would cost.

So anyone know for sure whether or not putting on the stage 3 pulley voids the warranty without using the stage 3 PCM?

short answer.....yes.

long answer....talk to your dealership. they MIGHT be really cool and tell you they will cover it. but get it in writing.

if your engine blows and they see that on there, you can bet your ass they will blame it.

I'll give you everything you need to do the endplate, all fittings, hoses and clamps. To add the second tank all you really need is some extra 3/4 inch hose and clamps, and some 1/4 inct tubing and an adaptor for the bleed port on top of the H/E if I understand the concept correctly. I'll be doing that to my car sometime next week, so i'll know better about the second tank then.

That question is a good one. I think an0malous has a good answer.

With the small margin of difference in pulley size, how in the hell would your dealership know the size of it besides measuring?

Yeah, they definitely say 77.9mm and 76mm on them. It does seem to build boost a little quicker. I just didn't want to go any smaller on the stage tune and I have no plans on getting another. I'm sure a 2.9 is pushing the limits of the 42s and no matter what everyone else tells me I'm going to stick by that. The stage 3 is only a 2.99 anyhow, so thats as low of a pulley I plan to run for a while. I would really like the dual-pass if it is not too complicated to hook up and maybe the gm manifold.

ok ya the dealer i am buying the car from is really good friends with my buddy so he mentioned doing the same thing. They have been really good with his cars this far and are giving me a cut on the cobalt and on the parts I want. Hopefully they will be cool and still warranty the stage 3 pulley.

That information is incorrect. GM Stage 3's 93 octane tune runs leaner than GM Stage 2. My a/f ratio on the 93 octane tune is between 11.3-11.4 WOT. When I was GM Stage 2 + 2.99" pulley my a/f ratio was around a 10.8. GM Stage 3's tune runs much better trust me. I went from GM Stage 2 w/ 2.99" pulley to the GM Stage 3 tune and noticed a nice difference.

I actually got it on ebay, the guy that was selling it is a member on here. I got it for 82 shipped and CED wanted 114. I even called the GM dealer, I can get it for list price, and they wouldn't sell it to me for under 115.

Install was pretty simple. The hardest part was getting the damn bolts off. They were pretty tight. DO NOT take the belt off first or you will never hold the pulley and get the bolts off. I actually put the car in gear and just kept pulling on them till the tranny held it then I loosened them up. I think I answered all the questions you asked.

GM Stage 2 is rated at 241hp & 218tq
GM Stage 3 is rated at 248hp on 93 octane, and 260hp on 100 octane (no official torque ratings from GM).

As far as a real world dyno comparison between the two, I'm not sure.... I don't think anyone has ever compared GMS2 to GMS3 back to back.

I felt a nice bump just from switching out the PCMS from GM Stage 2 to GM Stage 3.
