GMPP Stage 3

I am picked up my stage 3 ECM today and looking forward to seeing what it does for me. What I did was to purchase a spare ECM on Ebay from a 4 cylinder Canyon pickup which is the same P12 processor that our LSJ engine uses and had it flashed with the GMPP Stage 3 calibration. DO NOT try this with a 2.2L or 2.4L, they use a processor that looks identical to the P12, but is different. The reason I did a separate processor is that the GMPP Stage 3 calibration disables certain creature comforts such as a/c because it is an off road calibration and is not intended for use on the streets.

The GM stage 3 that is coming out is going to have a 2.9" pulley.

I don't know if anyone knew that.

So how is the stage 3 calibration working out?

Why... you are supposed to be able to turn it on and off?

What he is saying is he bought a PCM to flash with stage 3 so he can keep is stock PCM as well. He wants to have 2 because the stage 3 disables A/C and what not. I think......

Guys, Stg 3 is a 2.9" pulley, PCM with a new Calibration that includes a 100octane cal, N2O cal and disables A/C, and the dual pass endplate you can swap out the stg 3 pcm when you want to and put the stg 2 in. Stg 3 is ONLY an upgrade to stg 2, not a complete setup....

"2005 Cobalt SS/SC Stage 3 kit is 88958718. It includes a 76mm pulley, 2-pass intercooler endplate, and Stage 3 PCM with adjustable rev limiter, 100octane cal, and 50-shot nitrous algorithm."

It comes with a totally new PCM

Stage 3 Off Road kit which is still technically in R&D is GM's answer to the Cobalt utlizing a smaller 2.9 pulley and a 50 shot of Nitrous. It does disable the A/C (for reasons unknown) and also has a fuel map that utlizes an even higher grade octane.

I hope this helps.

As far as GM stage 3 goes. I have been emailing back and forth for a while now.
This is what I have come up with.

1. 2.9" pulley that fits the stage 2 hub.

2. 50 shot of nitrous/ CPU controlled/ Armed and shot using console buttons/3Krpm minimum.

3. New agressive reflash including nitrous and 100 octane calibrations. A/C disabled.

4. Not covered under warranty.

5. 2-pass intercooler end plate.

Edit: Damn....too late. SS_SC beet me too it.

I guess it looks like I'll get my stage III kit after 7 years or after 75k miles cuz my warnity will be gone then. At least the price of the kit will be down down down =)

Yea RP33...I thinkyour right on. After you install the stage III kit take all the AC parts out of the engine bay. Lose some weight, avg weight on all that stuff can be as high as 60 pounds. Not to mention more space to work and maybe add a turbo for the twin charged set up. How awesome would Twin charged be with NoS and a 2.9 or smaller pulley. WOOT!

GM stage 3 has a whole new PCM that you switch out with your other PCM.

So you are either running the stage 3 PCM or your stock/stage 2/ whatever your normal PCM is.

Chances are it will be a while before someone cracks the stage 3 PCM to be able to adjust things. Who knows though.

You could do that but you loose your A/C. That's really the only downfall.

That's not much to sacrifice.

You could make a makeshift GM stage 3.

2.9" pulley, a 50 shot of nitrous, JBP 2 pass intercooler plate and a tune.

The only difference is you don't have the luxury of bouncing between the 100 octane tune, the nitrous tune and the straight 2.9" pulley tune.

BTW if you do remove all the AC stuff be prepared to make some type of idler pulley in its place
