GMPP STAGE 3 ECU or GMPP Exhaust mainfold

Well now that I have the 2.9 pulley and the GMPP endplate (that was a major pain in the ass to install , instructions sucked ) I want to know what you guys think I sould get with my current mods. The GMPP Stage 3 ECU or the GMPP exhaust manifold. I would like to stick with GM parts .

By the way has anyone ran the Stage 3 at the track with the 100 octane mode and what time did they get

Thanks

Hey man long time no see, you cannot make changes to the Stage 3 PCM, it's locked as far as I am aware and your A/C will be disabled using this as well. You would be better to have someone make a 100 octane mode for you.

Get a GMPP Exhaust Manifold if you really want GM. Don't bother with that Stage3 ECU. It's only in tune with a 2.79 in pulley and not a 2.9, it will run funny. Do you plan on running the 50 shot of Nitrous they have it setup for?

I thought that the Stage 3 GM pulley was the 2.9

I like the fact that you can get 10-15hp out of the 100 octane mode.

Would kick ass at the track and I don't think I would run Nitrous unless I started putting in internal engine mods

Only problem I see is that it suggests to get an exhaust system starting off withthe GMPP manifold

it is tuned for the 2.9, not sure where sneaky heard otherwise, doesnt make sense that it would be tuned for a 2.79 yet they include a 2.9 in the kit, but I say go with the manifold first and then maybe later on down the road get the ecu if you still want it.

today I really got on it in second and saw the boost read 17psi ... very happy

and the temp was 185. I think I dropped 20degrees with the endplate

stage 3 pcm sucks. It isn't tunable, only good thing is if you are going to run a 50 shot of dry nitrous.I would recommend getting hp tuners and make yourself a 100 octane timing map .Also when you installed the endplate did you flip the lower laminova cores around?

Get some poly CAB's for the wheel hop issues.

Unbolted the endplate off hte intercooler and installed the new one and had the run the coolant lines differntly according to the directions they give

I'm trying to find where I read it was for a 2.79. I perhaps am wrong but I don't keep up on the GM Stage kits too often..they are below par to me.

ok I did the conversion between mm to inches

for 76mm it's a 2.9 inches, sorry about that man. :/ but I still won't waste time with that ECU unless your going to be moving between ECU's then I guess it's ok. Don't let GM see you with it on going to the dealership.

did your cores look like this

This is what mine look like now i feed coolant from the pump to the center then out the top and bottom through a t back to the h/e.

Yea mine looked like that. The line from the high perfromance option B resvoir goes to the bottom and the top laminova's that are combined and the line from the pump goes to the middle. I finally figured out that the 1/4'' line goes to the H/E where the plug was. It's kinda weird to see the coolant being put back into teh second resovoir from the 1/4 '' line when it starts to heat up but I guess that's how it works . Thye six feet worth of coolant 3/4'' line is enough to make it from the resivoir to the T connectors but if you want to replace all the rest of the lines that feed from the radiator to the pump and so on then you will ne like 12ft . I reused the lines that i took off the car and cut them to size actaully worked out pretty good.

I thought this install would have only takin me 4-5 hours and becasue the instuctions were so vague and there was reall y nothing on this web site for a step by step with photos it took like 8-9 hrs .

Do I feel a difference in the performance of the car. eeehhh not really..... the biggest thing was the pulley but it's the fact now that I know I woun't burn something up .

I'm still tossed up on the ECU because when I talked with GMPP they were talking about a long tube header that MIGHT come out and I would hate to buy the GMPP ehaust manifold and then that comes out.

hey its not like I havent ever said anything that wasnt quite dead on, so no prob. I agree with you on the ECU, I'd go with HPtuners and just have like 2 files saved, 1 for daily driving, 1 for the track(100 octane, ect)
