Pistons are the only thing required if you don't believe in the stock motor.

Agreed. afaik you don't really need to swap internal parts if you're just turboing unless something blows up.

for 350hp you should be fine with stock internals. first thing to upgrade though would be the pistons.

I don't know that the rods have been a failure point for anyone. Pistons are usualy the failure point for most people. But, if your good with tuning and run everything safely 350 will be fine with stock internals.

I don't mean to bash Fred at all, he does great work and tunes well. But, he isn't going to have the time or patiance to get your car perfect. If your going to do it seriously you should pick up a copy of HP tuners yourself I wish I did earlier. There is only so much you can do even with a whole day of dyno tuning. You really have to drive it and tweek it for a long time until you have it perfect. I've had my turbo since this spring and it's not yet completly tuned. I haven't ever made a pull in high boost (15 or higher) to redline that behaved the way I wanted.

Waste, they are factory forged and very nicely done. I would suggest leaving everything stock rods/crank wise unless you are doing a fully built block. Cryo-ing isn't going to yeild any gain whatsoever and its not cheap.

Rods/crank are good to 450+ crank HP as per GM, way beyond what 98% of people will ever see.

Just buy a short block from JBP and you should be good.

i have been looking into a lot of the VQ parts for my build when i get back. i want big power, like 600+rwhp, everyone seems to go twin turbo, why not just a big ass single turbo?

Ok, you spend $200 having the crank and rods cryoed for zero gain...

I'm saying, for what you get, its not like its only $20 to have it done.

Space maybe? I haven't looked around the car at all, i'm guessing it would be a ton of custom fab to make a big single work. For 500-600whp, I would rather have dual 2871R's or something like that. Spool would be fast and hard, and high 20's boost levels on high octane/E85 would make tons of power. Needs a built block, but what doesnt.

I'm personally thinking, HR motor, cams, 150 shot. Mid 11's on street tires, stock block.
