got fix it up

got a 06 ss\sc all stock besides corsa exhaust i got on, i wanted to trade it in to get an wrx sti, but in reality insurance is way way to high like 6500 a year (i'm 20) so i decided to keep the bolt, i think it looks nicer than the sti anyways. so anyways i wanna fix it up to be a beast, i could care less about warranty so i'm looking to put in 5000 dollars def this summer, and more as time comes, what do u guys think i should do first? like what upgrades.

ok first lets figure this out, if you like its looks better anyway and its cheaper on insurance because of all its safety features, what is it about an sti that makes you want it? in any case i would start not with go fast parts but with parts like stronger axels, brakes, etc. parts that are going to make the car more reliable (happy wasey) before i started throwing more boost at it and stuff like that. in the case you finish with that i would start with the intake, gm stage ii kit, header, short throw, and then maybe a cryo2 kit. thats just what would do.

Definately start with one of these: exhaust, ingalls (or not this, if you do mounts), or intake. You said you dont care about warranty, so the gmpp stage 2 might not be where its at for you. the stage 2 will be reliable, but you wont get max power. what I hear alot of people doing is going to a 2.8 or 2.6 pulley with 60# injectors. You'll also need to do cooling mods if you go that route. Dual pass intercooler end plate, additional res, and another H/E would do wonders there. Meth/Water is also an option.

Definitely get that engine to stand still so you can get rid of wheel hop. Engine and tranny mounts are in order.

If he doesnt care about the warranty why would you recommend a weaker and more expensive GM stage kit?

because he said he doesnt care about the warranty not that he can afford to not have it. if he is going to void warranty i figured he might want something reliable. i dont beleive anything i have mentioned would void it but if it did his car would have less of a chance of needing repair. plus he said hes 20 and cant afford insurance so why would i tell him to put a mod on his car that would make it less reliable and cost him more in the long run. good enough??

performance he is looking for is altogether different from what he could achieve. i have been told i over analize things before so i guess this might just be another case
but once again i saw the fact that he said hes 20 so he probably doesnt make enoiugh money to make his car a "beast" plus if he cant afford the insurance on an sti how is he going to afford the money it would cost to equip a cobalt comprable to an sti as well as repair it when it brakes down because i am sure hes got a lead foot judging by the insurance thing again. and finally i must have stated like 3 times in that post it was my opinion and it was what i would do. because i felt it was the best idea for him. which is exactly what he was asking for. anyone that can afford to make their car a "beast" isnt going to post a thread saying hey guys what should i buy. he asked for our opinions and i gave him mine, unless i am giving him the wrong info or something cant see why you would post questioning what i was saying.. but hey hang out with your wang out

actually i make good money i work full time, the sti i could afford but it woulda worked out too 780 a month, plus that insurance 6500 a year, i mean it's possible but that's why to much, like i said i can put the money in the bolt that's not the problem.
