Got my B&M Shifter installed.
Got my B&M Shifter installed.
I got it last night, and finally got it on by midnight. It took me about 1 1/2 hrs. to complete, and I am a freakin noob.
Let me first say to all those that have said that the stock shifter is short enough.....you were wrong
Shift throws are significantly reduced, neutral play is almost nill, and it slides through the gears very nicely.
About the install. It was harder to do than expected for two reasons. I didn't have all of the right tools, but a vice grip can do a lot. Also, there is one small ring that goes on the shifter below the shift ball, and that thing was hard to get on. Otherwise, it worked out great.
I recommend using the TWM Performance manual in the How-to section to get through getting the center console out, and then use the supplied instructions from B&M for the rest of the task.
The shifter is a high-quality product.....and while the knob is OK, it has got to go. Luckily, my MOMO shift knob gets here today, and will be going on tonight
. I will post pics of the completed install late tonight.
Thanks to Frank McKeever for getting the product to me on time, and being there to answer his phone.

I will. In fact, I still have the center consle off, so I will take pics with it off, and with everything put back together. Check tonight around 10pm or so.......sorry so late, I have work and class and bedtime stories to read.

You will enjoy. What color/options did you get...please say you got g85...lsd is worth the price with those Recaros
I'm not sure yet! I'm going up there next weekend to make my final decision. Unfortunately, for one that just has XM, Onstar, and a Sunroof, they will *NOT* take less than $25,3 out the door
Really sucks...I haggled and haggled, and I just could NOT get them to go down any further.
So, at that price, I'm not even sure if I'm gonna go with the performance package. Oh well...
It's black with black interior though

Yes it works going into reverse. At first I thought it wasn't going to work, but then I decided to ditch the spring, and it works great.
It is taller than the knob that came from B&M...I would say 1 1/2 in. I noticed that this knob improved shifter feel because it is about a 1/2 lb heavier than the supplied knob.
And yes...she is cute. She is the second of 3 girls, so who knows there may be a Danica in there, but she will not be a media *****....she will race for the love of the sport
Pics of final install tonight...and I promise to vacuum the car.

The standard one got scrapped. It is a ***** to get off in the first place. Ask the guys over on RL forums how many of them smashed thier faces when trying to yank it off. The factory one does not screw on, it is pressed on reallllllly tight. So no, the factory knob doesn't have threads, ad can't be screwed on.
In fact, I had to drill through mine to get it off so that I could get the shift boot off the stick.
There is a very simple way to remove the old knob, just jam a screw driver in between the knob and the reverse lock out sleeve and give it a good pry and it will pop off. That figgin knob was a PITA to try to pull off and it sure as hell doesn't twist either. Use my method and your knob will be unscathed.
