Greasing
Greasing
im gonna start doing my own oil changes and i was wondering if i should grease the door hinges or the chassis and what should i use or if i should even bother.....idk if the dealer ship does but i know some places do. What should look for or do BESIDES changing the oil when i do do an oil change
on an oil change you shouldn't be lubing your door hinges unless they are squeeking and your chassis doesn't have any points to lube. and things you should look for on an oil change are, check your air filter to make sure its still good, fill up washer fluid if needed, check your tires tread depth and pressure. now if your doing your own tire rotates double check make sure everything on your suspension is tight and nothing is loose. thats all i do and im a lube tech.
on some of the cavalier models the outer tie rod had a grease nipple for greasing but new cars don't require these. the only new vehicles that still require greasing is trucks and they have lowered the amount of grease nipples i know the older ones used to be anywhere from 11 to 25 depending on make and model.
