Great Cheap "mod"

not really a modification but a good thing for performance anyways. i was checking out one of the GM performance sites and noticed something in the engine bay of the time attack cobalt ss. heat wrapped intake piping and intercooler coolant reservoir (sp?). i dont know why i hadn't thought of this yet, but it is a great way to keep heat soak out of the intercooler coolant as well as the intake piping. probably just used header heat wrap stuff.

On my 2006 SS S/C, I used heat reflective tape to cover my fuel line all the way from where it connects with the fuel injector log as far down the firewall as I could reach. I thought about trying to cover underneath the FI/Log w/heat reflective tape as well, but there is not a lot of clearance w/o taking the FI/log loose. Even then there might still be clearance issues.

These are little things, but the more heat you can keep out of the air/fuel going into the engine the better performance you will realize, especially since higher boost creates more heat.

Umm...why? You don't have an intercooler and the exhaust manifold is on the backside of your engine. It would do squat to help you.

FYI in that pic it's the coolant tank, not intercooler tank.

I have my intake heat wrapped, and my car is faster than the other stage 3 cobalt. I used thermal header wrap and zipties. Just heat wrap it and put a re-usable cone filter in teh airbox.

Notice they heat wrapped the overflow resivoir for the coolant too? That must prevent the hot liquid from heating up the intake seeing they are so close to each other.

I will correct you because the radiator and heat exchanger both use different overflow tanks and lines all together. Lol. I think they just painted the tank a chrome look to match the intake.
