G's build :D

so im parking my car for a couple of months so i can build it up and also let my record chill for a bit haha! anyways, i have obtained a p&p head, 2.7" pulley, 79# injectors, valve springs and am going to go to e85... my biggest question is since im going to be takin my head off should i just consider building the rest of my motor? like sleeves, pistons, rods, and whatever else i should/need to do? any info would be great im not experienced as far as motor builds but have done plenty of engine swaps....

and if anybody else has any input on what other mods i should do let me know, as well as who makes them

Thanks in advance

For that setup I would just leave the motor alone unless it pops. That was you have 2 chances at it, where if you built it you only have one chance to make the motor last.

I would re build the motor while you have it down for that few months. When/if you want to upgrade you will not need to worry bout the motor.

If you do decide to build it make sure you do sleeves as well. I know you mentioned that before, but I would just do it all out or leave it until it pops!

here is an update on what i have torn apart...

hoping to get further into it soon! want to get the pistons and sleeves here as soon as i can! know for sure what i want for christmas haha!

do you think i should do like the zzp stage 1 cams or no?

and as far as swapping out the valve springs what is the easiest way to get them out? i haven't messed around with them yet but i want to get an idea of how to get them out. and should i do valves too or are the stock ones ok to run?

also may be a stupid question but since im going e85 would there really be any point in running methanol? even for just cooling purposes when i shoot it pre blower? i have always wondered that

Depends on how much you want to spend.

With your mods, I would not worry about too much engine work. If you wanted huge power one day, now would be the perfect time to throw down on the sleeves and pistons.

If you feel like you need to do something while it is apart and you are for sure going to run E85 I would recommend raising your compression with some aftermarket pistons. High compression engines love high octane fuel.

Cams can be tricky on the LSJ. Most people buy them and can't get them to work. Cams get pass around on this forum like a cheap *****!

The only way I would run ZZP cams is if I were dropping my engine off at ZZP and having them do it. If you got the cash you should check out there new "stroker" engine. Turbo Tim's car made 400whp on the M62.

im plannin on going big power soon but i don't have so much that i can do it all at once...i just figured that this would be the best time to do it since it has to be parked for six months...

i don't know if im going to do cams i just wanted to know more about it...and im for sure going e85 but don't know if i should go up because if i have to go on a trip and there isn't much e85 stations around here

you will not need to cryo your crank lol

sleeves, pistons valve springs and forget replacing anything else except with new stock parts

I would go with 10.5. Turbo Tim is running 11 CR on his 2.4L ecotec.

so i was thinkin today...with the money i will putting into this motor why not just get the new zzp stroker kit? anybody think i should....if i get enough people to say yes and i convince myself to save up more money (whenever it comes in) i will get it...

i mean it is an already built motor with everything that im going to do but instead of 2.0 it is a 2.4 there is probably more advantages to it too but didn't mention

Lol, you don't need our permission. ZZP is a great vendor, that makes great stuff, so of course it'll have advantages. Support for higher horsepower, an extra 40 over stock to begin with...if you got the coin, I'd say go for it. But keep in mind all of the money you'll also have to spend on supporting mods and tuning. It'll get REAL expensive REAL fast.

well for right now im thinkin get the built motor and then when i get the coinage then add the supporting mods...i want to do this the right way...don't want to blow something up and have to rebuild i want it build before i blow up. I know right now im not close to blowing anything but with the plans i have down the road i will definately have more potential to
