Has anyone ever...

got a stage 1,2,then had a problem down the road related to the upgrade and then had the fix covered under warantee?I am just curious about this whole matter and how gm reacts to stage kits when you have a problem if it's drivetrain related?I sorta feel as if part of the pricetag is including sort of a "surcharge" for the potential risk(?)extra wear they take on responsibility for,and wondered if anyone has actually "cashed in" on this or been really happy they did it legit. Thanks

Yeah, my belt shreaded. They replaced the belt, the pulley for some reason, the cracked tensioner and the ripped hoodliner with no problem.

Ok,i can see that happening for a supercharger. Not uncommon at all, particularly the tensioner in alot of cars.

Has anyone had a catastrophic event with a stage kit?A messed up synchro,a gear slip not clutch related, something out of the norm? You probably know what i am getting at,just trying to wiegh it out and you guys have alot more miles on and experience with this then me.Thanks-

warranty ---- takes care of most unless it is abuse ---

or the dealership goes under -- we had a guy in Ottawa Canada that
couldn't get warranty work done because the other dealership closed

but other than that - no worries-

they had some issues with clogged cat because of a tuning issue
but if you are worried about warrant or breaking down
spend the $$$$ get a gm stage kit

you have a Turbo ? no kit out from GM yet ?? I haven't been reading much

half my belt shredded as well, and ripped up the hood liner and they fixed it with no problem.

Thanks guys.I am not extremely worried about warrantee so far, because no one is really reporting anything major that is breaking from these stage kits.It just seems there will be a premium price for them versus a tune or the likes from a reputable tuner. This also tells me that the stage kits are not really stressing the engine much, which lends truth to the capabilities of this engine in general. It is my opinion that if a supercharger is'nt making any significant issues,i doubt a turbo will.Being my first cobalt, and a new car,i am just wieghing it all out.

A kit is said to be read for the lnf,but gm is waiting till spring to release it.I do kinda get urges to be able to be in boost more often hahaha. The computer really is set on holding the car back.
