Having warranty issues?
i hate the dealership. i refuse to get any work there besides warranty work, or my stg 2 i just got installed today
but i think people in the car dealership buisness dont care about there rep as long as they make a few extra bucks.(well most of them dont, there are some good guys) and as for that bs saying if your tires are worn by 25000 miles we will void your warranty that is also a crock of ****. i would have smacked the person that told me that and i would say you wonder why gm isnt selling many cars. #1 because the quality dosent compare to a import, #2 the people that work for the dealers are ********.
when i take my moms bmw to get serviced they are the nicest people in the world to me.
when i go to chevy to get my car warranteed, i feel like opening fire on everyone that works there. (sorry im venting)
i love my car and im not saying imports are better its just like dumb company=dumb employees.
they cannot prove you raced the car, unless they have video evidence. everything else is bull **** and i think them threatening you like that is not very professional.

yea, I'm trying to get some kind of help. I'm going to seek legal advice on this that's for sure. I think what they are tying to do is bullshit. Right now my car is stuck in 4th gear since the rotating pin in the shifter assembly, where the shifter cables enter the tranny, is broke and it needs replaced. I've taken it to a tranny specialist and he's going to fix it. But I gotta pay out of pocket for it. I've done nothing to cause this to break, and it should be fixed under warranty. But I'm scared to take the car in for warranty since they are threatening to void the warranty if they see any signs of "racing." They even took me into the office of the head manager of the entire dealership today and he told me all this BS. I'm getting legal advice and I'm gonna have a talk with the GM area rep. Since he's already involved in this matter anyway.
like i said they cannot prove you were racing unless they have like video evidence. they may say we can tell by the wear of the tires, well thats bs because tires wear differently in different climates, humiditys, and all how a person drives. i would bring in your lawyer when you go to that shithole. dont worry they are just trying to do anything in there power not to have to fix your car

they aren't voiding the warranty for the shifter, they are voiding it cause of the conspiracy of "racing," which then I'd have to pay out of pocket for the tranny fix anyway. So I'd rather just take it to a tranny specialist and pay less than have the "stealership" take my money and rig it, seeing as how they ghetto rigged my fuse panel last time anyway.
Even at that, they are saying your tires are over worn. Sounds like a defect. Turn it around and stick that on them too. Anything they say looks too worn you tell them that must be a defect and make them replace it too. Why take the defensive?

It makes no sense what so ever to put out a sports car and then not back it if something goes wrong. I would be willing to bet that if you had a Lamborghini and the tranny got messed up for some reason and it was still under warranty, they would cover it in a heartbeat.
Some companies just don't take pride in the product they put out...all they care about is the almighty dollar.
take for example the shift pin I believe it is with our tranny's. How many of you guys have had trouble with your car shifting either while it is still or when you're on it at 6 grand or more?? I know I have and numerous others have and a guy who works for Chevy said it is a defect with the tranny but GM wants to void your warranty and calls it "aggressive driving"
lol, I am just as pissed as you guys sound like you are getting, but there isn't much I can do after they void the warranty. I'm gonna try and get in contact with their GM area Rep. and have a lawyer present when I talk to him so that I can get this stupid dealership to leave my warranty alone. Otherwise they are gonna have a really pissed consumer that will never purchase a brand new gm product again. I'll buy used chevy's for now on and just beat the **** out of it and take it in and say the previous owner must have done it. lol.

see here's where it gets better, I did take it to another dealer, then they looked it over and told me i didn't even have a warranty since there was some aftermarket parts on the car. Then they called the other dealership that I've already had problems with and I now have both dealerships pissed at me and they have gotten the gm service area rep involved. All I've done is tried to explain the magnusson moss act and so they've taken a different approach by saying that the car appears to have been "raced" and so they want to look the car over some more and determine if I still have a warranty. Hence why the dealer doesn't have the car at all right now.
yeah, you'll get your money eventually from somebody its just fucked up that they would treat a customer that bought a 20k+ car from them

I'm just going to have this tranny specialist fix it and then I'll talk to some lawyers and some gm rep's to try and get this whole "warranty voided" thing situated. Right now I don't want a dealer touching my car.

I have an 06 so obviously I have the gun metal rims. How many of you have noticed them chipping?? Mine have started chipping around the bead of the tire. Also, when I bought the car I got the GM tire and wheel protection plan which at the time I was told and the contract stated it covers dings, dents, scratches, or chips in the rim and that the rim will be fixed or replaced for free. Well, when I noticed they started chipping, I asked them about it and they won't honor it. Because it is cosmetic damage. So what happens when I get a nail in the side wall of my tire?? Will they say something like, "You stuc a nail in your tire to get a new one, we won't honor what you are paying for"

i dont blame you ralliartist, and killerbee you are right it is the dealerships not gm. there are some cool ones out there but not many.

the funniest thing is my g/f's dads best friend is the service manager where i got my car and he knows im a mechanic and i know my **** and you cant fool me so if i ever take my car there and he tries to pull a fast one on me i'll make him look like a ******* and outsmart him infront of everone, but i dont think(or i hope) he wont pull a fast one over on me because i know where he lives lol

Its not so much GM its the dealerships that sell them like my dealership i am gunna have a 2.9 pully put on by them and my mechanic there said it will not void my warrenty cause he said they have to prove that the pully cause the problem and he said the case of that happening is slim to none
yea, and to think the main reason I stayed away from doing a pulley, intake, header, injectors, tune, yadda yadda yadda, was to keep my warranty. I got these guys bitching like hell because of my extra cooling mod (cobra heat exchanger), an exhaust cutout(haha), my stock motor mounts filled with polyurethane(void warranty for this?), and I think they are bitching about my air box mod and calling it a cold air intake. Yet I still have stock filter, just the bottom of the box removed. They are killing me though with the whole, "racing" thing cause I know they'll void the warranty whether they have evidence or not cause of the mods.

I bent a piece of metal in the fuse panel under hood. they jerry rigged it, lied to me and told me it was fried and the car didn't run throwing all kinds of codes. they left it out back and I checked up on them to seee if they were bs'ing me. I caught them red handed. I took the car back and fixed it myself, easy fix too by the way.

they are trying to void my warranty now cause they think they have evidence that I raced it. I'm trying to find a loop hole seeing as how the cobalt ss was advertised as "tuner ready" and GM sells "performance parts" from the factory, DUH! But they are saying that since I actually raced it, that they were going to void my warranty. I'm too the point that I don't care anymore, I'm reverting it back to stock and demodding it, trying to keep the warranty since I'm still paying on the vehicle. Check the pic/vid thread to see my new project. well sort of. Not new but something I will get to working on when I get it out here.
I have worked at GM dealers and seen first hand what lengths are taken to help loyal customers out. I can easily list at least $100,000 in repairs that I have witnessed myself that could have been refused under the letter of the law. I take my warranted cars in for oil changes, tire rotations and all other maintenance because I'll have a leg to stand on if something happens. If I am paying them to maintain it, there is not much they can say. Or, they will be willling to overlook a few things. I got a new wheel bearing job recently for free after warranty. Thanks boyz.
I'm not refering to you when I say that I am ashamed of some of the scams that are pulled. It's those guys that are ruining it for the rest of us.
Most automotive shops don't want to touch modded cars. You never know what kind of hack job has been done. It's not like people give you a new wiring diagram to explain the octopus created by hack alarm installs, steroes and bling bling lights. Should a customer expect that the mechanic spend his time tracing things out? I have refused jobs because I simply don't want to clean up a mess on the shops dime and the customer doesn't want to pay. The fact is, the majority of shadetree mechanics and run of the mill shops simply do bad work.
I have seen a toasted duromax with K&N filter sucked in it. Ever priced out a new diesel. Should GM pay for the engine?
Offering performance parts doesn't mean you have a warranted race car. It's a street car with some guts. I would love to find a racecar that is fully covered no matter what abuse I throw at it. Especially at this kind of price. I have seen engines that cost more than your car pop after a few runs. 30ft or 30 seconds. Whatever comes first is generally the rule with race engines. They might help you out, but your not usually gonna get off entirely free. That being said, GMPP does offer some warranred race engines...go figure.
Sorry for the rant. I hope some that might read this think twice about the assumptions they make.
I will admit that there are some really ignorant dealer staff out there.
