jbp sells one and they want 300 bucks for it just seeing if someone had one laying around and I was talking about the tool that holds the cam gears in place so you dont lose timing.

It's no secret or special tool... Kent Moore makes one version of the tools, and it can be found online cheap...

The tools can be had for under $100 if you look around, even cheaper if you use the open end wrench trick (can someone please explain that more). The cam sprocket bolts are about $65 from CED.

You need to apply air pressure to the cylinder through the spark plug hole to keep the vavle seated while you use an overhead spring compressor to push down on the spring, remove the retainers, replace with new spring, etc. Same as changing valve springs on many other engines...

Stuff Needed

Valve Springs (ZZP's or your choice)
Cobalt & Ion ---> ZZ Performance

Camshaft Sprocket Bolt Kit x3 GM Part # 90537451 (torque to yield need replaced each time)
Ecotec Cam Gear Bolt Set 90537451 - Crate Engine Depot

Cam Sprocket Holding Tool Kent Moore # J43655

OHV Spring Compressor Kent Moore # J43649

Air Spark Plug Fitting

Thanks for the information I knew about putting air pressure to the cylinder head(I used to do that on old v6 and v8's) but everyone made it sounds like this couldnt be used for one reason or another. If you have tested this, fantastic and I know that I can start my project that much sooner for finance reasons.

I've never done it, but I know how lol. Good luck. Take pics for a howto or something.

BTW, why springs? On a M62 the power will drop off hard once you get so high.

Who can elaborate on the wrench trick for keeping the cams aligned with the chain off? Is it as simple as putting a wrench on the cam sprocket bolt and propping the other end against the other sprocket?

Regardless ofwhat you think you don't know everything, neither do i, but I share what I know and that is suppose to be what this forum is for, a sharing of information about a platform we all love.
